I've been a die hard Battletech fan for years, and I've been excited to see MWO coming around. But I have one big question that I can't seem to find an answer for - will I need a premium account to form a Merc Corps or a lance?
Some background... I'm a casual player at best. I don't want to get into guild drama or anything like that, and I don't want to have to dedicate my time to the game... it is supposed to be a way to spend some free time. But I'd really like to be able to join up with my brother and play a few games and know that we'll be on the same side. I got into WoT for the same reason, only to find that you need a premium account to form a squad with another player, and my fear is that MWO will take the same approach to lances.
Not that I have anything against premium accounts, or the way MWO has handled other premium content - that all seems good. I just don't want to have to pay for a subscription if I'm only playing once or twice a month. It's why I never got into WoW - I don't want to be paying for game time if my computer is collecting dust.
Thanks.

This is an excellent question to ask here...I do not believe we know yet how that is going to work.

No idea there, yet. As Kyrie suggested, the best is probably to ask.
Hopefully we will get the better answer.

Thanks, I'll go ahead and ask.
I have no problem paying into the system (I've certainly done it for Minecraft and WoT), but I think I'm allergic to monthly subscriptions.

Yeah, I completely get what you're saying there.
I mean, I am in a very similar situation.
I personally would really like to make a Lance-sized merc corp with my friends, but I am worried about 'formalities'.
I also plan to spend a bit of money on currency, but not a subscription, as my gaming time is not very reliable.
