Greetings all,

Well did the 150th Aniversary at Antitem. Was great to walk the ground made hallow by the IB.

I have been hoping around the Davion TS3 Servers, hope to see you all out there. Dropping with the 1FSAC and HHoD mostly. Guess there is not much of a presense for the IB with Davion any more. Too Bad. Cya in my cross hairs...

I didn't think anyone from IB was still around. This is Heckler of Batt B. Just found this forum topic. It seems things have come a long way since the MPBT: Solaris days on AOL. 1996ish. It can't be that long ago...can it? :-)

Not too many of the old group around. I havent seen anyone in the Davion drop rooms on team speak. Spend most of my time dropping with HHoD and 1FSAC. Been trying to locate oterhs from the IB, but not much luck.

Hey there Phil - after 700+ drops of pugging I think that I am finally going to start dropping with premades. My first stop will be with the Davion TS server where I will fly the IB Flag with my TS Name.

Hopefully I'll see you around but I think our time zone differences reduces our chances.

Cheers!

Will you all be reforming for MWO? My father is a huge Civil War buff, and it's nice to see people continue a tradition in this way. I'd love to join you for just this reason. I've walked Brawner Farm, and the Antietam grounds, as well as the Herbst woods and the Railroad cut in Gettysburg. I'd love to continue the tradition in-game.

Hi there Dorian,

I am Australian-based so thus my connections to the Iron Brigade is purely by Mechwarrior Merc Group only. The originators of the Iron Brigade Merc Group were/are US-based and thus had much stronger connections to the name than I did.

I am hoping that when Community Warfare arrives at MWO that former members of the Iron Brigade will revive the unit's name and standing. Until then I will wear the badge as a memory of my beginnings as I now drop with another group called the Bumble Bees.

Cheers!
Eboli.

Hi all,

Just letting you know that I have applied for Iron Brigade to be registered as a Merc Unit for the upcoming advances towards CW.

See http://mwomercs.com/...60#entry3637637

I have also sent an email off to sparhawk@iron-brigade.org notifying him of the situation. This application is to ensure that Iron Brigade remains in name under control of former/present members and that it is not taken from us by someone who only like the name rather than the history it stands for.

I am wanting to revive this unit and am happy to take on command to lead this group to its former glory but I will transfer the Command of this unit over to an original Founding member of this unit if ever they come to MWO when CW becomes successful.

Iron Brigade has a long history with Mechwarrior so lets get it back up and running again.

The issue is that I don't think any Founding members of IB have accessed MWO for quite a quite a while now which has prompted my action.

My purpose for registration is for good intentions and I want IB to come back as a unit as it has demonstrated in the past in previous versions of Mechwarrior.

I hope you all understand and if there are any objections please send me a message.

Yours sincerely,
Eboli

hi there Eboli. good move I think. I would also like to see the IB back here in full glory. I had great times with you guys.on a side note. I still owe that dang Stinger some payback. I think as punishment for not being here. we should leg him the first few matches. just to keep him in check.

Hey Sudden,

Once the Iron Brigade unit is in existence as a merc unit in MWO I will be contacting everyone on this forum topic to let them know and see what happens. I am hoping that we can get a few of the "older guys" coming back and joining up. If so we can take it from there to work out structure, details etc.

Keep a watch out Sudden and let me know if you are interested, unless you already have other commitments (understandable).

Will need new blood but I am really hoping that CW implementation will bring back the guys to MWO.

Cheers!
Eboli

Hey there Niko,

Thanks for the message on this forum. Iron Brigade members know me from our former days so I have no concerns about you leaving a contact request. All done for proper reasons.

Cheers!

Dear all,

Iron Brigade is now a registered Merc Unit and I have started contacting all former unit members that have placed a reply on this Iron Brigade forum topic.

I am hoping that CW progress moves forward quickly and effectively so we can once again work as a group and bring back our former glory from days gone by.

Feel free to contact me via these forums.

Yours sincerely,
Eboli

I'm not sure what sparked this the other day, but on a whim I typed into Google: "Iron Brigade, Battletech" and found my way to this forum posting. In fact, on reflection, I know exactly what it was. Someone posted a TV commercial for one of the Virtual World / Battletech Cockpit Simulators on the r/battletech subreddit and it reminded of the time when I met up with a bunch of IB members at GenCon in Indy one year.

When I came across this thread, I totally forgot that I had found it previously nearly 10 years ago. What a time capsule this is.

Phil, Dogmeat, Grond...lots of old names here. I used to play MPBT during the EGA and Solaris days. Ohhh the memories.

Honestly, I was trying to see if somewhere in the bowels of the internet I could track down Phil's fan-fic novel about the Iron Brigade again. I remember getting the file and going to a local Kinkos and printing the whole thing out. THAT was expensive! haha.

I've been going through a lot of nostalgia lately: Started reading the BT novels again via Kindle (I used to own like 50 of them until a tornado stole them from me in 2013), been reliving the glory days of old school Mechwarrior & MechCommander games via MyAbandonWare.com, and recently just snagged the new(ish) BattleTech turn-based computer game on sale.

Anyways, I hope to reconnect with some of the old crew and see what everyone is up to.

All the best,
