This game doesn't need 3rd person view, it is a first person game. Only reason for possible 3rd person view would be in the Mech bay to look at our Mechs in the bay.

Eh, I think adding 3rd person view would take away immersion rather than give it. I wouldn't mind an optional 3rd person view, but don't have to have it. First-person only creates true immersion, where I feel I am in the mech, have to actually turn around to see what is behind me, etc other than just seeing it right on my screen with 3rd person view. Loving this game.

There's propably tons of similar topics and i udnerstand what an issue this is. First of all, I'm a big fan of the 3rd person view to view my mech from time to time, it helps the immersion dramaticaly. On the other hand, i know that playing the game in this camera would mean a lot of refinement and work from the side of the developers. However there could be a solution if the 3rd person view would be available only when there's no visible enemy mechs in your range. Another idea which i would love to see is a recording option. This would add a lot in immersion. ;) View your approach after the battle, zoom the camer freely etc. What do you guys think?

3rd person view helping "immersion"?

3rd person view is the *geometrical opposite* of immersion, it drags your view point away from that of the mechwarrior. With 3rd person view you're not "in the mech" any more, you're floating a few feet behind it. How is that immersive again?

The lack of third person view limits the visual angle making surprise attacks and sneaking possible and encouraging team play where multiple mechs cover each other's back.

No. It should never be implemented, ever.

I'm all for a set of replay cameras, as long as they can be used *only* for replays. No in-game external cameras, thank you very much.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think "Immersion" means what you think it means.

well... Idc about 3rd person view... But rearcam is a must :S

Rear view may not be possible.
Certain limitations with the CryEngine 3 makes it difficult at best and may not be possible to implement.
Its not because they devs dont want to add it, its because they may not be able to
I'm not saying it will not be possible or not be added, but possibly highly unlikely it will be added due to the engine limitations.

Although I agree with you, if they close it how long to you think it will take before another shows up?
As long as the discussion is civil I see no problem with it.

This is a simulation game, not a action game. I don't think a 3rd person view adds anything to the game play and in fact degrades it in the same way a 3rd person view changes the entire feel of a combat (or even normal) flight simulator. You would go from playing something like Falcon 4.0 to playing Afterburner in regards to strategy and overall game play. Both feature combat, but the way you go about that combat is completely different. Battletech has always been ground in its own realism of putting you in the pilot seat, even in table top games. While certainly there you used miniatures and weren't actually in the cockpit, the rules of the game were such that they made you think and act as if you were (double blind, smoke and fire, los etc). I think that MWO does a great job holding on to that same feel and allowing a 3rd person view would destroy all the feel of this being a simulation of armored mech combat and turn it into something radically different.

Guys...this isn´t a Frags per Second Game. A third Person would not help you, to survive, and the thoughts of better sight in the Cities, because of many buildings and corners to overwatch the situation...Come on...the game can be bit challenging, and this game is
not even heavy to learn.

But if People are not able to turn their Torso to the right direction, you should think about to stop playing. Read the Faqs, and manuals on this side.

The only way i can see a 3rd person view would be in spectator mode. That would be nice. Something to think about Devs.

Folks this thread and the X number like it have been discussed to death.

Will the feature ever be in the game? Who knows?

For now it is not planned for launch or for any time nearby after that.

Closing.
