I think now all could happen, maybe even this non canon fubar Highlander rumors are true...who knows.
Even if this screws canon from behind. Remember Highlander not seen in inner sphere for about 200 years. Only army using it Comguards, Comguards Army unveiled shortly before Tukayyid.
And now they showed us they could do everything and we are prepared for nothing.
You devs realy realy know how to troll one real hard. On the other side Flea is canon for the timeline.
Maybe they remind us on this very thing. " Hey guys there are still some Mechs we've got in backhand and they all will be canon Battletech Mechs"
Think this Highlander is just something pulled out of context. Maybe from the PC Gamer but nothing to be implemented in short time.
The Flea is every bit as rare as the Highlander out side of the Wolf's Dragoons, so yeah....

Actually... no, it's not.
"With multiple lines on Asuncion, Bernardo and Victoria, after letting the Dragoons exclusivity clause lapse Earthwerks started selling the easy to manufacture, easy to maintain [Flea] by the DropShip load across the Inner Sphere.
Originally produced exclusively for the Dragoons until the Capellan Confederation acquired the design's blueprints via a Maskirovka raid during the 3040s, the post-Helm Memory Core FLE-17 variant is based on the older FLE-15 model."
The Dragoons let the Flea (and the Marauder II) become common in the IS prior to the Clan Invasion, but kept the Annihilator (which even the Clanners weren't building anymore) and the Imp exclusive to themselves until the J***d.

Dear sweet PGI gods, WOLVERINE!!!!! (Both Gladiator and Wolverine can mount jump jets, lets see one of these two get in.)
The Shadow Hawk , Griffin, and the Wolverine are all Unseen from Fang of the Sun Dougram.
Shadow Hawk = Dougram "combat armor" with turbopack (includes a "linear cannon")
Griffin = H8 Roundfacer "combat armor"
Wolverine = T10B/T10C Blockhead "combat armor"
The Gladiator is an "Age of War" design that fell out of use before the Star League was formed, and is not produced again until well into the WoB J***d.

Battlemech 17 10/10/12 - Highlander (Image from PC Gamer edition) just makes too much sense given the dates 2 weeks out to the day.
Battlemech 18 10/24/12 - Dervish or Gladiator to fill the 55 ton medium weight gap
Battlemech 19 11/07/12 - Black Knight or Orion to fill the 75 ton heavy weight gap
Battlemech 20 11/21/12 - Nightstar or Banshee to fill the 95 ton assault weight gap (after the assumed highlander)
Battlemech 21 ??/??/?? - A new light of some kind
The ones in bold are what I think the devs will go with. The dervish seems more common place then the Gladiator which if I am not mistken is outdated at this time period. The Orion seems a more balanced mech compared to the Black Knight but I am just doing a toss up. It's really more like 50-50. I believe the developers will go with the Nightstar because the Banshee is more or less a slightly weaker less heavy Atlas.
The Nightstar was lost to the Succession Wars (speciffically, the sole production facility was destroyed by FWL commandos in the early months of the First Succession War, and the design team was killed in an accident at another facility), and production doesn't restart until 3057.

All mechs except the Valkyrie are unseen so it will be none of them.
If you take an TRO 3052 the following Battlemechs could be viable for the assault weight klass:
--Charger
--Hatamoto Chi
--Victor
--Zeus
--Banshee
--Cyklops (maybe not very rare)
--Mauler
All other Mechs of this wightclass are either Wolfsdragoon only, refer to unseen or are quads.
For heavy:
--Orion
--Guilotine
--Grasshopper
--Cäsar
--Archer
--Thunderbold
--Quickdraw
--Crusader
For medium:
--Shadowhawk
--Griffin
--Derwisch
--Enforcer
--Vindicator
--Blackjack
--Vulkan
--Hermes II
For light:
--Wulfhound
--Panther
--Firestarter
--Urbanmech
--Javelin
--Hermes
There are more mechs of this timeframe, but they are either very specific for one fraction, unseen or nearly extinct for beeing out of production for centuries.
Since we got several Kuritan, Steiner and Liao Mechs I would think next Mechs would be either Davion or Marik.
For there are no Marik assaults left it could be Victor or Banshee.
I think it will be the Banshee. It was already mentioned in some INN Posts.
griffin shadowhawk and archer are also unseen if it was part of macros saga harmony gold stole it and it wont be used which is stupid cause all the images they claim to own have been changed in the latest remodel of the mechs

Only issue I see with the Mauler is the lack of varients in production in 3050.Three varients are a must and I can only think of two Mauler varients available in 3050 with one not technicaly a mauler but a Dabuku the mauler's earlyer version from the late 3030s.
I would not be suprised to see the Banshee soon. The Banshee meets the criteria for having three or more varients and is still in active production in 3050.
