Humanity will forever remember the words, "that's one small step for man: one giant leap for mankind."
Rest in peace

One of the greatest grammatical derps in human history, but we still love him.
I'm not a religious man but god rest his soul.

@Barg12

Last year in february Mr. Armstrong explained to me that he actually said "That's one small step for 'A' man (but he pronounce it "uh man") , one giant leap for mankind." According to him there was a static burst that washed it out. I'll take his word for it.

The world is a much poorer place now that he is gone. I was born five months after the Apollo 11 moon landing and hope to live long enough to see his example taken up with a manned flight to Mars.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as well. Wait he said that to you? Who the frak are you?

I'm in the aerospace industry (pilot and education for the space administration) and my job put me in contact with astronauts on a regular basis. I know/knew several on a first name basis.

While I came too late to experience the Moon landings, but I loved hearing my Dad tell me about when he watched the Moon landings as a boy.
This comes at a pivotal time, NASA can't get anybody up there, but has just shown it can still get stuff done with Curiosity.
I can only hope that within my lifetime we can have achievements on the scale of the Moon landings, but it seems we're moving backwards.

As much as i admire his work, he was not alone. He was just the first one. We shouldnt forget the other ones. :)

He wasn't the first and he isn't the last, but he is still entitled to his own moment here. No one is dismissing anyone else. Let's keep the focus on Neil. :)

That was exactly the way he felt. He really felt uncomfortable with all the attention that he got, especially considering that other astronauts risked more and ultimately gave more than he did.
