So i lost track of this because of the deathly silence that followed the initial tralier in 2009.

now i come back and see its changed to "mechwarrior online"

im now picturing in my head a top down view mechcommander style game, this makes me sick in the stomoch and brings out an allmost unstoppbale urge to grab a 2x4 and start beating my computer screen with it.

Is someone able to confirm whats happening in the aspect of what the game will look like? Will we still be sitting in the cockpits of our favorite mechs, using a joystick to move around like the mech 4 style game?

If yes, am i the only one that cringes at the thought of a newbie starting area filled with jenner/firemoths like the opening day's of wow? That would kill the game enviroment completely.... imo

whats going on!?

argh!

You have allot to catch up on, I'd recommend checking out Mechspecs.com and listening to the NGNG Podcasts!

They said the game was first person only, and I'd imagine a joystick would work. Reading the FAQ might be a good idea as well.

you guys should do a 'catch up' podcast for new peeps and they can sticky it to a 'new people start here' thread.

Q. Can I get out of the Mech?

A. Will you be able to get out of the Mech? No. One of our gameplay design pillars is that we are putting you in the role of the pilot (MechWarrior®) in a first person perspective.

-----

Q. Will you be able to switch from first-person to third-person views?

A. The game is played from the first person. We’re exploring ways to have a third person camera that make sense from a gameplay point of view.

-----

Q. How loyal will MechWarrior® Online™ be to the tabletop rules (heat management, melee, armor penetration, etc.)?

A. We are adhering very closely to the BattleTech® tabletop rules. Some mechanics in the tabletop version of the game do not translate well into a videogame and we are coming up with our own rule sets that mitigate these differences in an intuitive and fun manner.

-----

Q. Will MechWarrior® Online™ be PC exclusive?

A. At this time we have no plans to take MechWarrior® Online™ to any other platforms.

All that and more at the FAQ section at the top of the page and the Q&A threads in the Developers' Blog section of the forum... :)

Hayden has it right. Before smashing your computer with a 2x4, take a serious read through Dev Blog 0. The other Dev Blogs will fill you in on other details.

Although if you insist on smashing your computer with a 2x4, please make sure you record it on video and post it to YouTube. k.thanxbye! :)
