Just a quick check, as I'm not too familiar with cryengine 3 yet. Will this natively support eyefinity? It was half the reason I got the extra 2 screens, even though Mechwarrior:Living Legends is far from optimised for eyefinity gameplay, it still becomes outrageously immersive when played across the three screens :) I really hope we will see some good cockpit extras for the triple-screen setups (or six-screen ones, if there are any out there. I never liked the idea of a split through the middle of the main screen :/ )

Moving to Hardware / Peripheral

Clearly those two extra screens don't show the Hardware section to your optical nerve.

well there is 5 monitor eyefinity horizontal, or 3x2 6 monitor eyefinity.

But CryENGINE 3 does support eyefinity

Reaper claims another victim :)

http://www.amd.com/u.../eyefinity.aspx

problem is the case studies are all industrial (no gaming that I could find).

I'm wondering if developing for Eyefinity causes issues with in game gfx, while it'll run ok 'out of the box' (although I bet the cockpit view will get weird when stretched across 3 screens).

They mentioned that you might need to adjust 'compromise is the word they used' your models to work with the technology, ehhhh, I was thinking about buying a new AMD card anywho, but Eyefinity might be more of a 'hey that's cool...meh it's a bit wonky' than having to go through all the rigamarole of developing specifically for it.

Hopefully it'll work well enough out of the box, I've got 3 monitors myself that I'm going to fire up and see how it goes.

Awwwwww ZING!

Also, http://support.amd.c...y-software.aspx

Both Cryengine and Cryengine 2 support eyefinity, so I'd say it's just south of 100% certain that Cryengine 3 will.

Nice!

A bit worried about this one (that's what Beta is for I suppose) -
  • Heads Up Display (HUD) elements or portions of HUD elements are not rendered within the viewable area!

Yeah, there may be issues to work out, but I would hope that as an engine that's supposed to be cutting edge, it'll fix any minor problems with Eyefinity that exist in the prior two.

They've had three Cryengines to get this right! :)

I would expect that; it's just odd it's not an AMD's support page yet.

Apparently, the engine physically works,

However, as of the release of that video, it looks like the interface needs some minor work, since the ammo information should not be all the way on the right screen. Depth of field issues seem fairly well controlled, even if that could also use a tiny bit of cleanup (not enough to really take note of though). That video is 9 months old, but newer videos show about the same thing.

Uh, no its not. As someone who plays PC games on my 42 inch 1080p tv and uses multi monitor setups, they have nothing in common, eyefinity actualy lets you see more at once in a game a larger 1080p screen has the same pixel count so it will just bee the same thing as a smaller one, just bigger watch this vid (click to about 8 mins to truly see the difference between eyefinity and 1 monitor

Woohoo, motherboardsorg! Elric! Epic dude.

Anyways, on topic, Eyefinity on CryEngine 3 should be fine and readily available, although you might want to tone down your graphical settings to get good frame rates.

Well my two additional monitors are coming in today, and while it isn't ATI, I'll be rocking the nVidia equivilent. :o

I'll bribe Paul in whatever way is needed to ensure that 3 monitor support is in.

You just had to add to the pain of other unlucky ones, didn't you.

Dudes, a brilliant thought just stuck me. I will ask a good friend of mine if I could use his beamer setup. It is hd. And the best is..... The screen is a whole wall! Hah!

I'll take a picture in a dark room so you can see the glow of my x52 Pro HOTAS, as soon as I get the monitors up on the wall mounted support arms. :o

*sniff* ok. Please do that. Then at least I can sit and stare at your pic, pretending to have that piece of hardware just in front of me.... :o

While they were building his house my friend had them left out a space in the ceiling of his social room in the basement. Then he built himself a box that can be moved by a switch. When it is closed the ceiling is nice and flat. The screen wall has a special finish. It is super smooth to give great quality. The wall is a bit over 2m high and 3.5m wide. It is already setup to watch movies, pictures (it's connected to his pc) and play games on it. I really have to ask him if I could give it a try.
Question: how difficult would it be to connect my rig to it for gaming? (His son is using wii or something.)
