i've been using a cross between a pen/paper and paint(cuz i don't know how to use a cad program lol) trying to design my home made tesla pod.

There's a leather footon that i'm getting at Walmart this month to replace my cheap bed. Since a footon has the ability to turn from a bed into a couch, i was trying to think of a way to save space in my room since i plan on building a tesla pod and i can actually afford to do it.

So i was thinking...it's my room, i probably wanna spread out and relax while playing MWO, so why not use the footon instead of some expenseive gaming chair?

So i redesigned my setup and invented the "tesla couch". WOOT I think i may go with this instead.

I'm most likely going to be using the Logitech G940 joystick/throddle/peddal kit along with a keyboard and mouse. So based on that below is what i came up with:

I might put wheels on the bottom of the jig so i can move it around without damaging the carpet. Since the joystick and the throddle on the Logitech has holes in it to bolt it to something, i'm thinking of getting 1/2 inch steel plates just big enough to cover the bottom of the joystick and throddle and bolt the plates to them. The weight of the metal alone will be enough to make it feel like the joystick and throddle are sitting on a table/stand instead of a soft mattress and eliminate the instability resulting of them sitting on a mattress. I'll be using a wall mount to attach the TV to the jig so that i'll be able to adjust the angle of the TV.

What's ironic is that this is actually CHEAPER than using a gaming chair in the setup because the footon i'm getting is really nice, but it's still cheaper in price than the gaming chair.

Any thoughts/ideas? :D

Hey Dr D.

2 suggestions.

1. Make your keyboard desk "U" shaped and attach the stick and throttle to that, I don't think weight alone will make then stable on a mattress.
2. Depending on the size of the TV you may want to look into some counter weight behind the set up (where the PC Tower is on your diagram).

I would also say that you will want some other arrangement for the stick and throttle. Either go with Hartsblade's suggestion, or devise some other sort of solid mounting for them. Also realize that you are probably going to want them sitting further forward (toward the display) than what you have shown above. You'll need to allow for sufficient clearance not only for your controls, but for the arms that are operating them (unlike a chair/seat) that Futon back is going to be a potential obstruction to rearward movement of your arms.
