This. I think sacrificing our Khans for the extermination of a rabid animal of a clan counts as contribution. ^_^

Clan Nova Cat,....(spit)...traitors.

I always wondered, did/does any fight between Clan Smoke Jaguar and Clan Nova Cat constitute a cat fight?

Because if so, the mental image it conjures is making me giggle....

I shall equip my mech with an ER Jello Laser, an LBX Mud 20, and equip a grapple for the hair pulling.

Well, we do know that the Devs are planning on having at least some major events from the BattleTech universe take place in MWO (as they've stated that certain planets would be "protected" in order to bring about said events), and several of those are on other such events.

For example, having the the Clan Invasion sets the groundwork for the Fall of the FRR as well as both the Battle of Luthien and Battle of Tukayyid, which in turn leads to the formation of the second Star League (and the launching of Operation Bulldog and Task Force Serpent) and Operation Guerrero and the Refusal War, which in turn lead into both the Capellan-St.Ives War (which will be interesting to see as an event, considering that the MWO map shows the St. Ives Compact as already being part of the Confederation) and the FedCom Civil War.

So, we can say with reasonable surety that certain major events will probably be used to advance the in-game story (which, in turn, is part of what will drive Community Warfare).

A converse question to the quoted post is, "Can we be sure that the Devs will even allow the Jaguars - given how short-lived they're "destined" to be - to be a playable faction once the Clans are implemented as such? They didn't implemented the (short-lived, at this point) St. Ives as a faction, and there is a non-zero chance that they'd do the same with the Jaguars, to (among other things) avoid people eventually whining about being left factionless..."

you can already steer around that by just creating two clan factions: crusader clans and warden clans. then smoke jaguar can technically be destroyed and it won't cause any problems. if you want to be a smoke jaguar, join crusaders and wear the tags and paint. simple. there would still have to be inter-faction trials tbh, but this would solve it nicely IMO.

Smoke Jaguars are kind of like Jag owners, but without the charm. Enjoy your gen0cide, kitty cats.

Insolent swine.
Do you think it is to be just a replay of what transpired in the BT timeline? We all shall see how things turn out...this time.

We've got 9 years until Operation Bulldog and Task Force Serpent. I don't see why the Smoke Jaguars shouldn't be playable. For all we know MWO might not even make it to 3059. Send the "survivors" off to Jade Falcon and other clans.

However, "Warden" and "Crusader" are already among the broadest of Clan divisions.
The former typically including (as far as those who've actually made inroads to the IS prior to the Great Refusal) Clan Wolf, Clan Steel Viper, (after the Battle of Tukayyid) Clan Ghost Bear, and (after Operation Bulldog) Clan Nova Cat.
The latter typically including (again, as far as those who've actually made inroads to the IS prior to the Great Refusal) Clan Jade Falcon, Clan Smoke Jaguar, (prior to the Battle of Tukayyid) Clan Ghost Bear, and (prior to Operation Bulldog) Clan Nova Cat.

By the same token, we have 10 years until the Capellan-St. Ives War starts (December 22, 3060) and 13 years before it ends with the Fall of the Compact (June 10, 3063) - arguably, ST. Ives has even more reason than the Jaguars to be playable, with regard to Faction longevity.
By comparison, the FRR continues to chug along until 3103 (finally formally merging with the Ghost Bears to form the Rasalhague Dominion). Do we really expect the game to make it to the post-J***d era?
By contrast, Clan Smoke Jaguar ceases to exist in any meaningful capacity with the death of Lincoln Osis at the hands of Victor Steiner-Davion on Strana Mechty during the Great Refusal, on April 23, 3060.

If the Jaguars are made playable, then it would make sense to have the "survivors" have the option to either be taken in by other Clans, or taken as Bondsmen by the IS forces.

Hola,

I have been a Smoke Jaguar at heart since 1995 and actually still know people 18 years later that have been part of the original Grand Council (Kali) *SJ* group.

It did not end well, but was a good ride while it lasted. And I did read the novels with growing horror when it occured to me what was happening.
