Yea i see the timeline issues, plus the whole soldiers bred for battlearmor thing going on, but I'd still like to see a real 'pilots' progression system.

I loves me some combined arms, but if we are sticking to the canon time frame, it will be a couple of years before it's worth taking any battle armor besides the Elemental. If they do introduce it, I think the player should be in charge of an AI squad rather than being a lone troop; it would likely be more effective that way.

I am hoping we see drive vehicles as well, though, and possibly aerospace fighters (maybe even with space battles with newtonian flight, for a change of pace)

I would love to man an Elemental again. Though I would prefer to rain it's firey death of lasers and missiles on fleshy targets than 100 tonn monsters!

*** no, please.

But if they must be in here, I'd rather they be NPC controlled or indirectly controlled units. I'd rather this not end up being a CS clone.

They're going to, if the FAQ is correct. What they're not going to do is some kind of Word-of-Blake control system about 45 years too early (and as of 3090, it's experimental technology that takes cyborging a pilot to boot) where you're in a battle armor linked to the 'Mech controls directly, or eject you out in a BA. Live by the 'Mech, die by the 'Mech.

If it started at the later point, having someone start out with Battle Armor and work their way up to 'Mechs could make sense, but too rare at the time period claimed

Well I would be nice when they come to that point, but in the current time frame the only battle armor around will be the Clan Elemental, the IS suits started showing up in 3052

Contrary to popular belief, the clan elemental armor, and it's pilot, the genetically modified elemental soldier, were incredibly dangerous in the lore. A point (5) of elementals could easily disable or destroy most mechs that met. In this respect, as of yet, we have yet to experience a good rendition of the elemental armor.

Not until the clans invade. However I would like to see some infantry running around supporting the mechs, seeing them run into buildings being captured by your side and all. But that's just visual fluff and candy.

No battle armour till the clans invade. Definitly no piloting them, this mechwarrior not battletech-warrior (or mechwarrior living legends).

NO! No way! That have made that command MWLL it is possible to anathematize. So to pervert a Universe essence, thus never to listen to reasonable councils is it is necessary to be able.

I actually liked the MA games... the strategy I thought was pretty fun.

However, I don't think they should include it in this game. RTS generally don't translate well to MMO's... and for a good reason. They're much better lent to the eSport arena, or else SP type games. I wouldn't say no to trying out an attempt, though.

Ive posted this on another topic, but its relivant enough here, that I hope they include many of the vehicles in the MW universe. I mean right on one of the pics they posted for PC gamer there is a drop ship aking up alot of space in that pic. Wouldnt you like to be dropped into a conflict on an assualt dropship ? Offloading onto the battlefield with your mates while your dropship rains down the hurt on enemy front lines. The dropship unloading its areospace fighters to make straifing runs against enemy artillary. Any tropper platoons flood out like a stream of objective capping ants. It could be pretty epic.

I for one hope MWO goes combined arms, mechs are cool and all but mechs, tanks, BA, and aero are even better. (mmm Planetside style MWO)

Elementals are badass.

Its hard to do in a MW game though, you just kinda shoot them and that's that.

I think they'd make nice NPCs when the clans show up. Why stop at battle armor? I know its not for launch but NPC combined arms summons would be great "pilot skills" to level up towards. Calling in Partisan tanks or harassers to scout and... harass. Or air strikes, artillery...

It'd really give light 'mechs a great utility to the whole spotting mechanic. They'd be able to pinpoint enemy positions far ahead and bring down the thunder.

Battle armor can be outfitted with Artillary and mine laying weapons also. This makes them an even bigger asset seeing as they can setup/breakdown quickly and be out of an area before they are in any real danger.

Lots of people above have pointed out that battle armor (Elemental or the IS equivalent) wouldn't fit into the timeline that Mechwarrior Online is starting with.

Still, if we do get to progress to around the time of the Clan invasion, I'd like to see battle armor implemented but in a balanced manner. For instance, one side could opt not to field one mech and instead in its place have 10 elementals. A bunch of elementals swarming a mech would be pretty cool to see and would allow for some interesting tactical options; eg. hide them away until the battle is joined and then have them outflank and then ambush the enemy commander's mech (which is probably all alone as he is hanging back from the main battle line).

If there was any kind of battlefield resource involved there could be points spent on defence turrets, elemental patrols, airstrikes, ect. They wouldnt have to break the whole feel they are going for but still have some of that MW flavor thrown in to make it alittle more strategic rather then an all out Circle-of-Death-athon.

I'd rather have aerospace fighters.
