Thank's a lot for that little explication.

I'm still not in the beta. (But I hope I will soon in with the secondclosed beta.)

I come from a game I thing lot's of you heard. World of Tank (backround thunder!)
Put down's your weapon's gentlemen, I'm not (I think) One of those little kid who want to play now, and are *****.

But still, I'm a complete beginner on the MW series. (In fact I discover that series with that game.)
And I've got just a few question.
I've heard on another topic that WoT & MWO got's a lot of similitude, but I'm not really sur to understand the gameplay of the game.

We've got big mecha. (I don't know how you call them here, so I will use the WoT term of "heavy") The heavy are generally slow, powerful and very well armored. (sometimes very armored and lack of firepower, or the contrary.)

The medium's, less armored and faster, with a good firepower. But easier to destroy.
The light's, or "scout", generally small and extremely fast, but with a very small firepower and sometimes can't even damaged the biggest heavy.

I supposed it must be similar to that. (even if they aren't officialy scout, medium or heavy mecha)

But there is also mecha specialised in pure damage deal? (no armor. But a HUGE gun who can almost one shoot heavy tank?)
And artyllery? (mecha who can drop bomb on heavy at the other side of a hill for example.

Does it look something like that?

Sorry if my question's are stupid for you. Even with looking on the forum I can't find clear answer. If there already a topic who answer to that question.

By the way, sorry for My english. I'm French so.... (Live in France. ^^" )

(edit: other question, what's the difference bewtween all faction's? é_é )

Thanks kaemon. Although not new to the Mechwarrior games, the information you provided in the 'Primer' was both helpful and informative. The 'Primer' will undoubtly assist many more players.

Oh man, I dunno if I can wait for this any longer.
Gonna have to make a pact with the space-devil so I can get into the beta.

You know, because the space-devil handles beta testing invites and everything.

I have played MechWarrior PC games since it first came out. I really want to learn more about the history of the houses, and other history. I don't really know where to start because of the large amount of books and information. I am interested in getting into the RPG thread also but realize i don't know enough about the lore. If anybody could please let me know where to start and learn more. Thanks!

Im with you BlueKnight925. I want to learn more about the lore of the houses AND the clans but am overwhelmed when trying to find a starting place. Any suggestions from some of the Veterans out there would be great!

New to the forums, but not to mechwarrior series!!! I've played every PC mechwarrior game.

Alot of good info on the forums, thanks to everyone that takes the time to type all of it down!!!

Already made a group called "The 1st General Motors Assault Battalion" Just gotta figure what house we shall put our allegiance to. Reason for the name is due to our enjoyment in driving and fixing up cars from any of the General Motors brands.

Well... that explains things.

*Insert generic BT phrase*

Shame nothing but Mechwarrior 3 works on my PC to train for this.
