I have been training on Cessna's up here in Alberta for the last few months (25 hours airtime so far), trying to earn my Private Pilot license and having a little difficulty on the studying side of things. I will be going solo once i get my PSTAR test written. Does anybody have tips for the first solo? I am excited but a little scared to be honest. Flying is easy, but remembering all the rules, regs, etc (as well as radio navigating) is tough for me. I'm hoping to get into the Air Force someday. Not necessarily fighters (I don't have that competitive fighter pilot persona), but more in the arena of tactical airlifting/tanking/SAR in a C-130J. If that never works out, perhaps aerial firefighting.

Is anybody here a pilot of something besides fictional mechs? Airforce, airline, medivac, bush, maybe just for recreation?

For your first solo I would double check your pre-flight. Also, pick a summer day :P

Just remember, the actual act of flying is easier then driving a car. The landing, slightly more difficult. Like above said, pick a summer day, a CALM day, you will be fine.

I have had a few hours in a Cessna myself. I think the biggest thing you have to worry about is yourself. To me it sounds like your phsyc'ing yourself out. Don't... If you know your stuff, and am confident about it, you'll pass. Some instructors lay on the doomsaying, but they just want to make sure you take it seriously. Do your pre-flight, prep, and take off once your cleared. Once your in the sky, your in control. And nobody can take that from you. (Besides Regulations lol)
