MPBT:Solaris on aol and gamestorm (once the aol playing broke the bank).
MPBT:3025 via the leaked link

I've been a participant in nearly every MW league (VL, BZ4, W!OL, NBT, Empire, MWL, and yes, even ISW) since the demise of Solaris, through the short-lived 3025 "open" beta. I'm looking forward to an actual BT game, hoping this will fill the void created by EA so many years ago.

Slightest mention of Battletech and look what starts crawling out of the woodwork. There must be some now empty graveyard of undead BT players that gets the soil turned every few years with these announcements. At least it's an opportunity to check pulses and throw down a <S>.

Let me be the first to say that I expect this to be ready, "SOON."

Great seeing familiar faces and kudo's to the dev's for recognizing a fantastic latent community when they see one and giving this IP a shot. Hope "the vision" and execution is what we've all been waiting for.

Looking forward to seeing who else crawls in...

Oh I SO loved that beta test, that was some ridiculous fun and such a BAD move in cancelling it.

The reason they cancelled it was that EA was changing their business model and were becoming a "purely console sports" gaming company. See how well that worked out?

I played on there. I remember people laughed at the urbanmech for the longest time on that game due to how easy it was to crit ammo. Well they fixed the ammo bug and the next day me and my buddies formed a lance of urban mechs and completely dominated for a long time, taking down mediums left and right. It was pretty funny watching them come up "Oh, easy kill" and then eating ac/10 death.

I was! So addicting, I played under house Marik, Don't recall my callsign... As I said in my intro post, I mostly piloted a Firestarter, and was about to upgrade to a Blackjack when they took it offline...

Such a sad day, an awesome game.

So glad to see people talking about 3025... I was only about 15 when it was in beta, but it was so cool. I get warm fuzzies just thinking about it, and if MW:O can match or beat that gameplay I'm sold.

::crawling out of the woodwork::

Some folks might remember me from EGA, open beta Solaris, AOL, Gamestorm, etc. :)

Microsoft can take some of blame for the death of 3025
They had just bought FASA interactive and the BT ip with it.
More than likley the pushed EA to kill it,
Just my opinion.

MPBT was likely killed because of overhead costs and pressure to compete with the MS juggernaut.

From what I recall, the decision was to kill MPBT in favor of what would eventually become GTA.

My memory could be off...

Motor City Online. Online Racing game only as I remember, no GTA elements involved. From what I remember the cost/revenue ratio was deemed unsufficient for 3025, and we know how that worked out for them.

MPBT 3025 was awesome in many ways. Though it did suck when you gained a few planets into a rival House's territory, but then the server reset back to defaults. :) But ah well, it was fun while it lasted!

**** yes I remember MPBT 3025 -- and as the OP stated: It was the MOST FUN online experience I've EVER had.

I can't wait for this frakking game to launch. Been bummed ever since EA/MS closed 3025 (Still don't know why they cancelled it. Everyone in the alpha loved it and openly voiced the willingness to pay for it and subscribe monthly)

Exactly where I'm coming from. I have nothing but good memories about 3025. Even the consistent server wipes didn't bother us too much as it put everyone back down to 0 and gave us a chance to try and build up to affording cooler mechs. I fondly remember my BlackJack MK1 (i think that's what it was called) and peaking over a mountain top, zooming in on one of the enemy mechs, and blowing off his guns from 1000 meters away. lol good times... even the trashcan Urban mech was awesome. AC20 in yo' face!!!
