The 12 Release Mechs- A Rational Discussion.

What if.. We are wrongfully assuming that PGI is telling the truth about the head count of at launch Mechs, what if the field is really going to be broader than the twelve we've been "issued". Its like a placebo to keep us calm... and still intrigued.
They are showing us 12 artistic examples up to launch... but really, I am on the fence as to whether we are being sold into a surprise. I dunno.. like I said.. Just seems like 12 Mech types, with very limited variants, is way to small a group to launch with, with the expectations of 60000 rabid fans on the line.
This is ALL my insane sleep deprived brain, likely insanity, probably conspiratorial and moreover all wrong. But someone had to say it.. right?

Your idea isn't crazy at all... and your explanation for why the devs would release only one 'Mech a month until launch isn't either.

I think 12 would be enough. Coming from my point of view. The last time i played a Mechwarrior game was when we rented Mechwarrior 2 for the ps1. So my understanding of each Mech's strengths and weaknesses is far far less then an experience Mechwarrior player. So to the uninitiated like myself play testing 12 Mechs to see which suits my play style would be easier then 24 or however many. Then of course you have the variations of the 12 Mechs.
Actually I was planning to go for a medium weight mech first.

Raven (especially 4L). But any one of the following and I'll be happy.
Flea (especially 20)
Wolfhound (2X)
Stinger (6L)
Alternatively, they could break Canon or speed up time and we can have lots and lots of fun mechs (Uziel A, Shadowcat C, Fafnir B from LL).

Best guesses would be:
RAVEN - The most infamous recon 'mech in a game with a heavy focus on recon 'mechs seems like a for sure thing, honestly.
ORION - Shot in the DARK here; heavy is the weight class with the most favorites and just about any 70/75 tonner would fit the bill.
AWESOME - Another iconic fan favorite that is undoubtedly one of the best & most popular 85 tonners
HIGHLANDER - To fill the role of a jumping 'mech in the Assault weight class
Notably I'd change my heavy vote to ANY unseen if they managed to licenese one. But given they got sued over the Warhammer in the teaser already, I have a feeling they may strongly consider staying as far away from unseens - at least Harmony Gold unseens - as possible.

Agreed. There's just something magical about using hit-and-run tactics in a light 'Mech to rip an Atlas's back to shreds. Especially when the game gives you more points for killing/damaging 'Mechs above your weight class

also without a massive history rewrite the unseen reisigns are put in cannon as "facelifts" given after 3060 to bring up sales of ageing desins and so could not be used on here till then theres still a chance that they will get harmony gold to let them use the real unseens though
