I have seen a lot about mech releases for certain Houses. As a mercenary, I don't care where they are made. I just want to now if I can afford it. :)
Seriously though, I can't see how house units will be tied to particular mechs unless they release a lot more than 12. They would complain too much. :D

RogueSpear -

Not sure which version of the Awesome you're thinking of when it comes to "good speed." The version we're most likely to see is the 30kph walk, 50 kph run from the TRO 3025. It didn't get the "boost" to 40 kph walk, 60 kph run until TRO 3050.

I like the way this discussion is going talking about what if this or that but a couple of points one is the malee factor that has been suggested in several interviews suggest mechs like the hatchetman et al. The talk of the unseen making this more of a unique game rather then a just a remade completed MPBT3025 now over a decade old. For me I would love to see some mechs that have not been seen in MPBT or MW in the past something to freshen play forcing new strategy in lance make up. I would like to see less of the Assault mech although I love the cyclops as a command mech and really versatile firepower but I can wait for that. I would rather see more light and mediums in the game to start 4 and 4 would be my hope with 2 heavies, which we have, and 2 assault needs one more. This will make the battle faster and more action oriented. Well suited for hunting and collecting. Jenner and commando are nice mechs we have seen before and a list like raven and panther or firestarter makes good sense. But just a rehash of the past will leave the game stale maybe in the mediums with the huchy and centurion we need a crab or some other mech not generally played or seen like a Wolf Trap or a Shadow Hawk. I loved the Black Jack in 3025 and want to have the opportunity to play it again but I also want something new and fresh. So lets hope the Devs are listening and look long and hard the Unseens may not make it in the first cut but something fresh and new would make for more fun and a greater challenge.

Well we will get different variants of one and the same mech so saying that we wont get this or that version could be misleading.

For all we know we might get some spanking brand new ones *shrugs*

Also this ups the number of different mechs quite a bit for launch.

Sure they might not look that much different visual wise but some variant changes flip the entire battlefield role of a mech around.

Take the Catapult - K2 for example.. the LRMS replaced by Two PPC.. from a missle boat to direct fire support. Essentially a completly different mech.

Im hoping that they are just showing us one a month to keep us interested, and launch the game with around 20 mechs to pick from, just so we get that WOW factor when we first load the game.

I'm gonna say

Light - Panther

Medium - I think we'll see a support mech like the Whitworth, Dervish, or Trebuchet.

Heavy - Jagermech or Grasshopper

Assault - Cyclops or Awesome. Or anything but a Banshee please.

I agree with your synopsis on the mech choices. The first twelve should be a balanced combination of Battlemechs designed to create a felixble force of options for all commanders and play styles.

My thoughts are that with each new release, each of the new Battlemechs should re-balance gameplay, to prevent UltraMechs or FrankenMechs. While the option to spam a certain weapon type should be there, it should also be restrictive in such a way that it prevents full effectiveness in all situations. The same should go for the post-release mechs.

Well here are a few I think could be it. Some are repeated by others, and some I had not seen people mention.

Light:
Wolfhound (Mainly because of major charcters in the books used this mech)
Panther (One of the most used Draconis Combine Mech)
Valkyrie (because it is a long range mech)

Medium:
Enforcer (iconic mech)
Phoenix Hawk (Like the Wolfhound many major charcters mechs)
Shadow Hawk (no one has really mentioned it but was one of the first major mechs in the books)

Heavy:
Warhammer (no reason required)
Archer (two names Morgan Kell and Jamie Wolf)

Assault:
Awsome (everyone wants one)
Victor (popular Fed Suns mech)
Highlander (Fantastic Star League mech)
Cyclops (Command and Control)

all this talk about assault and no one has mentioned the mauler come on guys its gota have a mauler and if not the mauler witch is the redesigned version of the linesman witch is a 3015 mech

The linesman is apocryphal, the mauler isnt in full production yet. The current iteration of that mech is the Daboku, the in between stage between the linesman and the Mauler. The Daboku is a death sentence to pilot- if its torsoe gets hit a certain way it autoejects, its lasers have severe overheat problems, and its autocannons jam incredibly frequently.

I'm liking your choices for the lights - the Panther and Wolfhound would both bring some of the firepower the light class currently lacks. The Valkyrie is also great, but I think it'd be better as a post-launch release, simply because the lights could use some brawling capability right now. The Phoenix Hawk and Shadow Hawk are also great, since they can bring some much-needed speed to the mediums. The Enforcer is another candidate for post-launcher release, since it's basically an alternative to the Centurion. The Warhammer works for the heavies, since it'd give us a decent workhorse in the heavy class; the Archer, while a good 'Mech, is not what we need right now - we already have a far-support heavy 'Mech. For your assault choices, I'll go with the Awesome and Cyclops - the Awesome gives the assaults some decent ranged firepower, while the Cyclops would make a great dedicated command 'Mech. The Highlander is far too rare for my taste, but I can see the Victor as an alternative to the Cyclops - it has the pretty much the same armament (missing only the LRM), and has more armor and greater mobility

Umm... Well, the Awesome looks alright...
Ignoring the... interesting... redesigns, I'm sorry to say the Gladiator can be shot down right away - it's a Clan OmniMech, and won't be a viable candidate for introduction for another year or so. As I already said, the Awesome is a good choice; the Orion is also great, as it offers a very well-armored workhorse for the heavies. The Ostroc might be better as a post-launch 'Mech; it's too specialized (urban combat) to do a good job of rounding out our current, already specialized (Far support and brawling) heavy choices.

Light: valkyrie makes the most sense, reseen of course, otherwise it will probably be either the wolfhound or raven. I don't think it would be the panther since we already have 2 drac focused mechs.

Medium: I hope its the dervish! My guess is the clint though. Marik needs some love and the clint is pretty different from the CNT and HBK.

Heavy: Warhammer, again, reseen. If not I'm guessing grasshopper.

Assault: Who cares? :D
Awesome and zeus would be my guesses.

Wow, according to this thread there are only about 4-5 IS assault mechs in this time period because everyone keeps hitting the same dang ones. Why not go for something new? I'd like to see a Nightstar or a Pillager over the Awesome. Yes, it's a good mech, but I want some variety

In this case, not quite. Take a look at the 'Mech using its jump jets and then take a look at this: http://www.sarna.net...28BattleMech%29 It's quite easy enough to confuse the two to be sure.

Ah - apologies. Didn't realize it was an Age of War 'Mech - I thought it was supposed to be the Clan Executioner/Gladiator

We have a huge gap between 65-100 tons

Grasshopper, Orion, Awesome, Stalker, Cyclops

One of those for sure.

No other Mechs that fill the command role? The Battle Master is a Command Mech; House Kurita from memory... It also looks incredibly cool XD.
And what about the BushWhacker? The (55 tonne was it?) medium mech from the start of MechWarrior 3.

The 'Wacker is a result of the advancements made during and after the Clan invasion in building avian-like 'Mechs (apparently a knowledge lost over the succession wars). I think the prototype is from 3053, and the chassis hits production in 3055. We'll have to wait at least 2 years before we weill see this one. Nevertheless, I take implementation of the Bushwacker for granted...

You're forgetting this is the 3048-3049 time setting. Neither the Nightstar nor Pillager are in production yet. Honestly, I hope we never see either of those; the less Gauszillas, the better, IMO.
