The 12 Release Mechs- A Rational Discussion.

Till a mech is released that is not from the 3025 TRO, I will have to go with mechs from that book. Till a Tech level is announced and going with what has been released, you should not see a mech with better than standard tech for awhile.
I am also confident by what has been released by the Devs concerning Harmony Gold that we will infact have 'Unseen' (minus the LAMs). They will be re-designed and re-skined so will not be a direct copy of the originals. Lets face it... without the 'Unseen', what do they really have to choose from for 20 ton mechs?
With that being said and with what has been released, I think at Launch you will have the 'Unseen' as well as a list of core 3025 mechs. Then over the next year of play (lets just call it what it is...an open beta) they will mix in 3050 TRO mechs (Raven and the like) and slowly work in newer tech to test the balance factor. This will effect the impact of Clan tech and how it works.
They have also stated they may release more than 12 mechs during this period, and alot of folk were expecting the Awesome when the 'dropped' the Leopard on us. I also predict that you will not see specialized mechs like the Firestarter, Blackjack, or Urbanmech till after release.

Light
Raven
Wolfhound
Panther
UrbanMech
Locust
Medium
Trebuchet
Phoenix Hawk
Dervish
Assassin
Griffin
Heavy
Orion
Warhammer
Marodeur
Cataphract, Grasshopper, JagerMech
Assault
Awesome
Cyclops
Zeus
Stalker
Battlemaster
Why am I doing this? We are at 10 pages now, I do not expect anyone to read every post so far, and there are some 'Mechs that are strong contenders (Awesome, Orion, Cyclops, Warhammer, Trebuchet) for one of the remaining spots. More than 60 different 'Mechs have been discussed so far... and a surprisingly low number of them were not in the time line or Clan. As you can see, at least one of the Unseen appears in every class, which confirms the high demand for these 'Mechs in the community once more.

Swayback is in the 3025 TRO as an alternate mech(s) with more variants than is possible to list. It is the 'techincal term' for any Hunchback that has the AC 20 removed as it is considered a vastly different mech.

Light: Jenner, Commando, Spider, Panther. My personal vote is for the Spider, because it is the epitome of fast scout mechs
Medium: Hunchback, Clint, Whitworth, Hermes II, Cicada, Assassin, Enforcer, Vindicator, Trebuchet, and Dervish. I personally would like the dervish, but I think we will get something in the 40-45 ton range. Cicada is a good scout, and the clint and vindicator are pretty well rounded
Heavy: Dragon, Catapult, Quickdraw, Grasshopper, JagerMech. My vote is on Grasshopper, though I like the Quickdraw better myself
Assault: Atlas, Zeus, Cyclops, Banshee, Awesome. My guess is Awesome and Cyclops, and that is what most people here are saying...

*Exasperated sigh* Wait a year on the Mad Cat, wait EIGHTEEN years for the Mark II
This thread really needs a way to block any and all mention of 'Mechs out of timeline. I definitely agree with El Loco that it's messed up how many times post-invasion 'Mechs have been suggested...

One year bro. Clans come out next year. 1:1 time line
And will proceed to kick the crap out of us for at least another year after that
We might see the odd one shooting us up, but it'll be a while until we see any of those ending up in our mech bays.

Nevertheless, I think it is quite an accomplishment to have filled pages with reasonable lists of possible 'Mechs. For now, we can sit back and wait for the next 'Mech to be introduced, followed by some "told you" and "I knew it" posts (hopefully

Based on some of the statements in the FAQ, I don't think there will be any issue with using unseen designs (or rather, FlyingDebris redesigns of the Unseen) - especially non-Harmony Gold ones.

Other wise, I'd like to see the crab, but I doubt it. Also like to see the Thug or King Crab, but frankly the Awsome is more Iconic and asside from being a bit more helpless at close range does the same thing and the King Crab is basically a atlas that gave up all it's secondary weapons for another AC/20 and a Large laser.

Not quite. While a King Krab, on paper, is just as you described it. In a video game, its profile is much lower. It would make a very scary mech to have to fight in an urban environment. Sits lower and has an additional auto-cannon. Turning a corner into an Atlas sucks, but isn't as likely to happen with lower standing buildings around. Walking into a King Krab could be done even in an area with rather small buildings.

The Orion wouldn't be so bad for a heavy-weight addition, filling the gap between the Dragon and Catapult nicely while serving in a possible command role, but it would also be nice to see varied assaults that do different things at different ranges and if anything I personally think the last medium should be able to function in a command role along with an assault, so I would say the Dervish and Cyclops could be viable candidates.
For lights, I just want to see a Wolfhound, personally. A Raven could be fine too, maybe it could cross over into a sort of command role as well? That could open up for the Orion, too. I definitely think there should be two command 'mechs, but not in the same or similar weight classes.
Light:
Wolfhound
Raven (Not if Dervish/Cyclops is included)
Medium:
Dervish (not if Raven/Orion is included)
Trebuchet
Heavy:
Orion (Not if Dervish/Cyclops is included)
Warhammer (Only because I don't know what else to put here)
Assault:
Cyclops (Not if Raven/Orion is included.
Awesome
