Hell yeh. Within the standards set by the game of course, with perhaps more variance.

sounds interesting but extremely difficult. i dont think that will happen but i think there should be a few enter changeable parts like different leg styles for the mad cat including arms chest and missile pods as an example. perhaps that could be buyable content? like a buck or two? or buy a set of different parts that changes the basic out rigging to just look way cooler. so even a newbie could look like a champion. sounds neat!

really want to make a custom-made MadCat MKII version, coz in my MW4, my MadCat MKii custom version is formidable even using a hard setting. :)

You do know that the MK2 wasn't even developed until after the Great Refusal, and some of the Warden Clans migrated to the inner sphere right? Thus it won't even be included in the game for a LONG time.

Maybe have some kind of (GM-moderated) system for people to upload 3d models of custom 'Mech designs, which can then be purchased in the content store and used as the cosmetic appearances for totally custom machines (the model would be scaled in height based on tonnage). Note I'm talking only about the visuals, not in-game stats. Then perhaps the creator of the model could get a small kickback from the purchases. (Full disclosure: as a currently unemployed 3d animator I'd have a vested interest in earning a few bucks off this lol)

If they did this in an Armored Core type fashion, I think it would be very interesting. Extremely complex, but interesting none the less.

Ok, so the problem with full mech construction is that everyone runs around with 100 percent optimized mechs. Sounds good until you realize you lose a ton of what makes Battletech fun. Frankly I despised some of the Mechwarrior titles because you could create mechs that would destroy Assault mechs in 10 seconds. Very very un Battletech. They got to be more and more like FPS, and less and less like a simulation of mech piloting.

I just dont like the weapon hard points you should be able to load out your mech the way you want. in the tabletop game you can place items anywhere you want and thats the way it should be, and i thought thats what they were going to do here.

EASY!

Buy a mech, sell all the bits, then voila!!

You now have a stripped mech ready to customize.

TT is NOT the same game, coding on paper is really easy to do when you don't have pesky code getting in the way, eh.

And you could not place items willy-nilly as you wished in TT until after omnimechs made it into the game. Omni slots are the only option and this game is unlikely to have them any time soon. So wish in one hand and $h17 in the other and see which one fills the fastest.

OP, please please have a native language other than the one you're typing in. It will make everything alright.

And no. Give no more power to the player and you with custom mechs. Part of the massive appeal of the MechWarrior franchise is becoming proficient with the eccentricities of this or that chassis. Like people, the little flaws here and there are what give mech's their personality, and what makes some pilots more apt to do well in a certain chassis than others,

Overall this idea isnt really needed, and I'm not sure if it would add that much to the game. Have to pass on this idea =[

I don't get why being able to build your own mech is a bad idea?

There is some things I took for granted after reading the OP suggestion

1) each part would have hardpoints (you could take an arm with a laser hardpoint and another with a ballistic one for example)
2) you would only use leg parts that are equal and compatible with the torso
3) you would only use cockpits compatible with the center torso
4) you would only use arms compatible with the side torso you put on the center torso (you could have different side torsos, but these must be compatible with the center one)
5) you would have to respect some rules about weight, minimum engine, heatsinks, etc

Why is this a bad idea?
