Still, I enjoy the franchise, enough that I got a couple of Destroid figurines, a Tomahawk and a Defender, otherwise known as the Warhammer and Rifleman for the Battletech "variants".
I can celebrate two things I like with just one model. Now that is getting my money's worth.

I can almost see a Skull Lance forming up, just for nostalgia purposes.

Loved playing Macross Ultimate Frontier on the PSP.
The intro for the game:

I have all of Macross original unedited, Macross dyrl, Macross 7 (original laser discs too), dynamite 7... frontier was ok, but it felt like they were trying to cater to all the anime subcultures out there.

Hmm...the 2nd Frontier movie, "Sayonara no Tsubasa" is already out on torrents so that means it was out on cinemas for a while now. I have not watched it yet so this may mean we may get a new Macross series I hope. I personally would like something similar to Macross Zero i.e. something quite realistic. But I would be happy with anything.

The 2nd MF movie is pretty awesome, but i suggest viewing it as this is a macross movie IN the macross universe. Just like how Hollywood does movies about historic events but adds and changes stuff for entertainment. Better MF related example would be how they did a Macross Zero movie in the MF series that left a lot out.
I'm sure the 30th year anniversary is going to be an awesome live concert with all the singers. (I can FINALLY get my Sheryl + Basara duet!)

Well, not to disappoint too much but by extension and thanks to Robotech, I did become a fan of Macross. I pretty much owe my love of "giant mecha" and thus Macross and BattleTech and everything else to finding Robotech on the tv screen when I was 6.
I definitely found a deeper appreciation when I found Macross and saw the source of what Robtech: Macross Saga pulled from. I think Macross gained many more fans once they found out about it being the foundation of Robotech.
Here's to Macross! /cheers
