First time ever I have heard about that game and I decided to sign up for it to try it when it comes out and I hope it is fun as League of Legend. Pardon me for my preference so don't hate me if I played LoL over MW. -.-
This game looks promising though.

Hey, mechwarrior is a great game in the past, so I'm sure it will be again.
Just to fill you in, mechwarrior is very old. It started as a board game, called battletech. Because its been around since the 80's, it has a very dedicated and... well, old fan base. You can really tell, that is the biggest difference between the mechwarrior fanbase and the fans of most games: Average age

Glad to see you and all the other new eyes to anything Mechwarrior. I hope MW:O hooks in a new generation of pilots into the Battletech universe. If you want to learn more about the interesting world this game will take place in check out this post http://mwomercs.com/...sources-thread/

Yes..we may be older, but, you know what? Show me another strategy game that has been around as
long and has only had minor rules changes...
Of course, we also have time before this launches...I am eagerly awaiting the launch, though, so I can bring
glory to the Celestial Wisdom on Sian! (If I do well, Romano *MIGHT* not have me killed!)

Welcome, I hope you come to love this game as much as some of us "old guard" who have been around since Battletech.

Welcome new guy, it's always good to get new players to any game so I'm gonna give you some advice. Read up on the forums as there is a wealth of good information hidden amongst all the whining. Join a good corp, try skye-rangers.net we have over 700 members and are one of the largest Steiner corp's around. Finally don't worry if you die, it will happen a lot, don't worry if you don't get a kill, aim to get your assist stat and overall damage up high (anywhere between 300-500 is very good) and the kills will come. Be patient and the kills will come in as well. Most importantly, have fun, MW:O is a very fun game. Good luck Mechwarrior.

Don't worry mate, my first and last exposition to BattleTech was with Mechwarrior on the SNES, one of the first games I played on that console. I ignored until well into my early adult years that there were sequels and storylines around that mythos.
As of now you only need to know how to manage your Mech, heat and hardpoints management, and battle tactics. As you get better and CW gets more stuffed you can get interested in the storyline.

It makes me wonder how that guy a few posts up even found it. I entirely expected a status update from the OP about how he did/didnt like the game, just to see a crazy necro.

Welcome aboard! I'd suggest getting into a group on Team Speak when you start playing so you can have helpful team mates to answer questions and explain strategy.
Oh necro, OP post date fail.
