For me The Battlemaster is by far my favorite design.. Thoughts on it, or your personal favorite.

meh, it has its place, though not sure what it is.

A single PPc for long range fire, backed up by 6 mediums lasers (2 rear firing for TT) with MG's and a SRM6 doesn't really make for a dedicated role.

love the look of it, but never really used it much in TT or in MW4 with the mektek patches.

I still remember spontaneously ruining my pants the first time I battled one in MW2. It is a cool design and has an even cooler name. Since its an older design (2633 manufacture year) it will probably not be seen in the game unless its the clan IIC version. Still would definitely have a place in MWO since it was used in various roles, including as a command mech. I would not mind getting my hands on one in the game ;)

I always thought it was a pretty good brawler. Decent armor, the ML and SRM make for a hard punch up close, and the PPC gives you something to fire as you work your way in tight. Not the best at any role, but solid enough.

Battlemaster is a good mech but takes a good pilot to bring its stenghts to bear effectively. I would love to see it in the game.

Only used it once, but didn't really have a chance to get down with it. It took an Arrow IV to the head on the first round of fire.

It looks good on paper, 'cept for those rearfiring med lasers. But those things do come in usefull from time to time.

It is a Unseen and is in the 3025 TRO, so it is actually a standard mech of the time. The only reason we will not see it is if they do not do Unseen. Personally, I think they /are/ doing Unseen, but I do not know if they have all of the licenses for all the different mechs that FASA ripped off. Would be a shame, it is a solid mech.

As for using it, it is a Assault mech. Assault mechs are suppose to man up and go into the thickest fighting, advancing toward the enemy when attacking, and if defending they are there waiting for the enemy Assault mechs. End of the day, it has maxed out armor for it's tonnage and is built to survive long enough to bring those short range weapons to bear.

Now, if we start playing and some douch stands back trying to snipe with a Battlemaster because they are afraid of getting shot, I am going to put a AC 20 shell into their worthless a$$ myself with my Hunchback and save the enemy the trouble.

As others have said, its a solid mech, especially useful as a command mech.

It's not bad mech, it has excellent armour, a good heat curve, excellent speed for an assault mech. Other assaults may have more firepower but the overall package is nice.

I think is is the quintessential command mech as opposed to a classic assault mech but I have never really used on the tabletop (I don't generally use assault mechs that much and when I do it's generally one of the 80 tonners).

I, too was a Battlemaster fan, then mine took an Arrow IV to the knee.

I love the classic lines, the obvious ability in the boxy military look.

Wasn't the Battlemaster one of the Reseen? And while its in the 3025 TRO, this is 3049 and I just don't recall seeing these very often during this era. I'm not saying its rare, but I don't think I would call it common.

Definitely a good command mech, but it makes a good assault mech as well. Picture it as an intelligent brawler of a mech.

Pretty good mech, but I'd take a Zeus over it.

It's one of the classics, what's there not to like?

I'd love to see it down the road.

I'd love to SEE it, but I wouldn't pilot it. Not my kind of mech and deffinetly not my first choice from that generation of mechs. (That would be the Shadowhawk.)

This is why you think this...

Quote

The BattleMaster was once one of the iconic BattleMechs of early BattleTech. However, the 'Mech's image was removed from all publications due to a dispute regarding copyright, becoming "unseen". BattleTech now features the BattleMaster prominently again, gracing the covers of Total Warfare, TechManual, and the Classic BattleTech Introductory Box Set, due to both a reworking of the artwork and a new agreement between Catalyst Game Labs and the copyright holders, announced on 24 June, 2009.

They had to take it out of the game due to legal issues. Far as I am concerned, every mech in the 3025 book is a common mech unless stated (they said LAMS are rare, so I have no problem what-so-ever with their removal... they did a poor job with them anyways).
