Have you tried SketchUp? Its a remarkably powerful little program for being freeware - I havent done anything serious in it, so I have no idea if its useful for this sort of thing - its primarily designed to create buildings for Google Earth. But its free, and its a modeling program.

Thanks! I was afraid that the model would have been some horrid mishmash I put together, but you're right, this actually is a pretty passable model. I'll render this out and post it to dA and add a link to the Low-poly thread I started.
-edit-
On second thought, I think I'll create some maps for it first to enhance the detail.

Ah, but I KNOW it's a good one...I got to FLY it!! You did great work then, and you're still doing awesome stuff!

I wondered what a remastered AT-AT would look like. Then I saw an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (awesome series btw).

I looked at Sketchup before. Not really my kind of thing. I'm more settled in two other software packages. If I were to move to another free app, I'd have to go with Blender.

Seriously? Right on! At any rate, I couldn't help myself and updated it. Just tweaked the model and completely reworked the texture maps.

A bit different to the original goliath or the GOL-3M variant, but your GOL-5D render looks very very nice. Well done.
I love QuadMechs! What next? A ZPH-Tarantula? That would be nice...

I did make a quad that was a bit based on the Tarantula back in 2002. Coincidentally, it has nearly the same stats as the GOL-5D.

Both skills are good on their own. Only difference is that anyone can learn 3D programs, but to paint in such thing as paint, that requires talent. You have an edge over them.

And the Tarantula mutant looks gorgeous.
