Thats where the PTW comment came from. I dont think Paul actually used that, its some thing that came up in every single thread about gauss/ppc I read, BAMWOLF this, OMG TIMBERWOLF that, hence the PTW bull flying around. And then hence we need to nerf it now apparently. Prior to clan, everyone just raged on PPC+ AC5's. I dont think anyone has raged on PPC boats since ghost heat went in.

the sniper meta came about when ppc's got buffs in silly attempts to fix lag issues, faster velocity was the first then heat buffs. the first poptarts emerged as phracts... the first main MWO poptarter

then came the highlander and HSR and ppc-gauss combo consumed the game. after many many months a gauss charge was introduced, ghost heat and re-nerfing the early heat buffs to ppcs. some people couldn't hack it and switched to acs but essentially the gauss - ppc combo has ruled the game since about march-april 2013.

it really has nothing to do with clans it's just that the additions, upgrade tech which is emphasising ancient problems PGI have failed to balance.

just to inform those of you who think clans and PTW have something to do with this issue. dragon slayer poptarts are on standby of course for TW's nerfings.

These guys are still pretty much the scariest coordinated force out there. Even two VTR-DS in poptart configs will ruin a lance's day, despite the negative nerfs.

2 Gauss rifles never stopped being an OP-meta type build. It was always 30 pinpoint alpha with no heat and now that there is a dire wolf with the weight to carry them and still have room for PPCs that generate pinpoint damage is where the problem comes from.

The Timber Wolf is another issue entirely. Their problem stems more from the huge speed and maneuverability,while still keeping the tonnage for large weapons like the PPCs and gauss rifles.

And only now has Paul decided to look at this issue, logically, it follows that this nerf talk is a response to the outcry recently. It is certainly possible that this is something Paul and crew wanted to do for some time now, and it has simply taken PGI over a year to code it, but I like to give them the benefit of the doubt and think it doesn't take them a year to code a velocity change or trigger restriction. The charge mechanic itself was enough to basically remove gauss/ppc cry threads from the forum in general. Now that a DWF can carry twin gauss AND PPCs, it has resurfaced, as the pinpoint alpha is high enough again to get people to start carrying the combo more in public que.
