How it looks to pilot a Summoner vs how it feels. Tore an allies side torso off because we were too close and I was zoomed in. That left arm feels so out of place!

Personally, I feel that the Summoner is a complete muppet of a mech compared to all the rest of the Clan models, and many of the IS ones as well.

I haven't yet been able come up with a build that's effective for me.

4 ERML Uac20, 4 ERML 2 LBX5 or UAC5, 4 ERLL are my favorites. If you pretend it's a medium you'll feel better.

Pretty much. Pilot it like a medium. The Summoner suffers from Dragon Syndrome, where it's a heavy, but in reality it's a medium. Play it as such. In fact, play it like a dragon, and you'll do fine.
