Hot Drops sound beast, but I hope there is a serperate way to get into the battle zone. Going in threw that way could get repeatative and boring if it's the only way.

Loving the concept artwork for the leopard.

It's basically a jetpack harness. One-use, pops off when they land.

I've often thought of girlfriends the same way.

Just enough thrust to slow them down before their legs go CRUNCH!

I was curious about that HIGH drop because normal jets wouldn't be able to provide enough thrust for a soft landing. I see a huge yellow contraption strapped to it's back on drop but I don't see any indication that it is a jump pack, other than the possibility that the two flexible lines were fuel lines. I'm having a hard time believing that pilot is going to make anything less than a crater...

Drops like that, including the JJ harnesses (isn't there a word for them?) are canon and frequently used in the BattleTech novels for instance.

Deleted my crap comment because I did not read the part that mentioned the "Jumpjet harness". It just didn't look much like one. I always thought that such a harness would be manufactured by the same company that produced the 'Mech and that it would be tailored to the chassis, connecting at certain hardpoints or catches. Since the Atlas had a ton of support... I would have imagined that it would have had a tailored jumppack. Maybe they were lost/destroyed over the years? I'm cool with a generic one (as long as it is collected after use) and great job on the video.

That Leopard is sexy! Lol, Hula girl in the cockpit! I hope we can decorate our cockpits in MWO. I'm gonna have a picture of buffy and a horse with a santa claus hat just like in MWLL...right next to my hula girl! WOOT

I hope the devs create a trailer someday using MWO graphics involving an Atlas ambush....why you might ask? Because it's MW TRADITION!

Can't wait for GDC!

Strictly speaking, the Leopard only has four doors for it's Mechs and two for it's fighters, aligning perfectly with it's four mech bays and two fighter bays, but that may or may not mean that they're represented by only one door per bay. After seeing the video, I'm thinking that each mech bay may have a vertical as well as a horizontal bay door. Nothing in the rules would preclude this approach from working as far as I can tell.

If you look at the art you will see that this is correct. Each Mech bay has a vertical and horizontal exit point.(check the official art of the inside of the leopard bay and look closely)

One of the blooper takes involves the Tech Crew filling Paul's Atlas jump jet harness with Kraft Dinner instead of fuel. Sure, he fell to the rock and broke like a little girl, but he did so with a tried and true Canadian staple of society.

An Atlas grabbing a machine gun that looks like AC 40, and starts unloading from door position. That would be cool.

Not quite as effective as the 2 ppcs, 3 LRM 20s, 5 Large Lasers and 7 Medium Lasers the dropship already has ;)

Just sayin.

ok who saw the Jenner in the bay next to the atlas then there was a large "chicken legged mech being liffted so all you saw was its legs 'to big to be a jenners legs' and then out the windo of the atlas you had low profile mech with arms and some type of LRM launchers on each side fo where the head shoould be 'one of the missle bays was open'

Been discussed before. The jenner and the hunchback have been confirmed as in the video. Those weren't LRM pods but 6 medium lasers in the HBK-4P variant (swayback). The silver mech with the legs was just a jenner.

Check out Paul's pinned post in the general discussion forum for confirmed things in the video from the devs.

Sweet. I can't wait to hotdrop DFA someone. ;)

Yeah, fantastic idea! Pancake their 'Mech AND YOUR OWN! Why are people so freaking obsessed with DFA? I really hope realistic physics are in this game. Try pulling a stunt like that, and I promise you will be crying when a good pilot simply swats your 'Mech out of the sky with an alpha strike. Good luck keeping your balance in midair!

Had the same idea.
The legs are humanoid, but it is obviously that the torso is typical for avoid mechs. The feet has two toes - that means no Stalker, The legs are to good armored for a cicada...maybe a Champion?
The mechs at front could be a possible Derwish - or some said a Swayback...i love speculation

All that is in the trailer is an Atlas, Jenner, and a Swayback variant of the Hunchback.
