I'm interested in both. Definitely will try Hawken, at least, when it becomes available.

It is okay to like more than one game within a genre.

Mechwarrior, Hawken, Robotech: Battlecry, Shogo, Exteel, ACE, Heavy Gear, Armored Core, Steel Battalion, ad n.

The more the merrier.

From what I have seen of it, Hawken has really done well with making the weapons FEEL powerful and give a really nice "encased in cockpit" feeling. Cosmetically, I think Hawken will be pretty hard to beat. Regarding the gameplay, well, lets wait and see.

I've been watching Hawken for a long time now. I even registered for the beta/picked a pilot name. Looks gorgeous graphically, and feels more like a FPS. I see no reason I can't play both. :)

I was interested until I saw actual gameplay. Does not appeal to me, it seems to be just an FPS with a cockpit hud, the mech theme is only skin deep and does not extend into meaningful gameplay differences with any other FPS.

Both teams must be small it's taking forever to get these games somewhat close to release and no reason to bring this hawken stuff up here in the land of founder zombies...

Looks like Phantom Crash play style to me. Not bad in any way just not the same as MWO.

I've searched for the old topic, but I couldn't find it anymore

Anyway, about my impressions of the game Hawken and the comparison that is being made with Mechwarrior Online.

I can only say the MechWarrior franchise in general to me is much cooler , not only because it exists longer, but I feel it has much more content.

Hawken to me looks like an arcade game....which is looking great , especially the urban environment and the cockpit.....but to me it's too insect-like, the mechs are too organic looking, too skinny, too vulnarable looking.

Maybe it's because it has no legacy yet, or it's just too arcady looking, I might give it a chance but I think I'll be sticking to MechWarrior as it looks to have more Immersion and Realism (if it could be called that), seeing the public videos.

I would post this on the Hawken forums aswell but for some strange reason I can't seem to log in anymore.

I kind of dislike their enlisting system also, enlist 3 of your friends and reserve your callsign, what's up with that??

To me, Hawken looks like a FPS disguised as a mech game, MWO is a complete mech simulator.

I haven't kept up on its development but I seem to recall all it has in terms of diversity is a light medium and a heavy mech?
Whereas mechwarrior has hundreds of light medium heavy and assault mechs, not to mention the vast amount of weapons they can mount ^_^

MWO is arcadey as hell, seriously. look at the targeting, the range on weapons, the damn hands (they want swords), etc, NDA binds me but MWO its NO sim. I don't think PGI can decide what to do... The devs continue to say one thing and do another. At least Hawken has a better idea of what it is.

MW mechs have hands too (which is dumb) & I'd say it's pretty close to a sim. Who knows what piloting a walking tank in 3049 would actually be like.

MWO is BT mech sim. Hawken is UT disguised as a mech game. no point comparing games of different genre.

Fresh Meat weapon ranges, detection ranges etc etc almost the same as TT same with hands and such - just like PGI promised so MWO is pretty much BT mech sim. as for hawken - it degraded from "we will make fast paced mech sim" to "ok we are making mech fps - but we are first who will do so!" (obviously not aware of tekki and such) so i wouldn't call it "has a better idea of what it is" .

Elementals riding, Ala Starship Troopers style (the Heinlein's book), DUH. Mechs are bad for anything besides being cool.

Also, MW and realism go a long way apart... we had some ridiculous facts thread somewhere on the forums for that.

While I don't know Hawken game, MWO seems to be following the old MW games pretty well. Hawken will lose the FPS mech shooter once I see distribution to body parts. Body parts and the Mechlab (aka customization) are what makes the MW franchise unique.

at the GamesCom here in Germany i talked to one of the lead designers of Hawken, and he said they do not intend any competition between the Games because MWO is a sim and Hawken is designed as a fast-paced, quake-like, pure Shooter.
(and he said he´s looking forward to playing MWO, too ^_^ )
I totally share his opinion, Hawken is quake with Mechas, no more, no less.

Try looking at MW:O in light of the original Mech-Warrior games; starting with the version tht AOL ran, which was a direct feed from Fasa Studios and Activision. We even had our own connection and server: (Kali Net). Then came Activision with Mech-Warrior 2; which was followed by Microsoft joining in and hosting Mech-Warrior 3, (plus expansion packs). I think Hawken would work much better if their mechanicals didn't look some much like walking toothpicks.
BTW, I would hope that MW:O gets around to letting me in-game with a Bushwhacker. I take all you out with my MW3/4 Bushy. I is fast, and have mucho firepower.
MECH-WARRIOR RULEZ!!!!! <_<

Both are nice game. I see Mech Warrior Online is harder than Hawk when you aim then shoot, if You hit and run, turn left and right, but I like it. It make gammers, they need more experiences in battlefields.

Thank for nice game.

There is no real reason to put them head to head. Hawken is a shooter designed for action while MWO is a tactical simulator.
