I read somewhere, ign iirc, google it and you'll find information, that Hawken is being planned for consoles also (maybe next-gen consoles). That's all that is needed to say about hawken.

MWO is arcadey as hell, seriously. look at the targeting, the range on weapons, the damn hands (they want swords), etc, NDA binds me but MWO its NO sim. I don't think PGI can decide what to do... The devs continue to say one thing and do another. At least Hawken has a better idea of what it is.

At the OP, Hawken implemented a new website and forums for the launch of their Alpha phase and in future prep for their Beta and Launch. I had originally signed up back when you had to recommend 5 friends but I tried to log in day before yesterday and re register, however if you use the same SN all your settings and forum sig are still there if you had one so nothing on that side is lost. And currently if you attended one of the con events they were at they were giving out Alpha Phase 2 codes and plan on sending 'em out through email to registered users fairly soon.

I just wanted to clarify the specifics on that as it looks to be a great game and I fully dig the live action trailers they've got and adding it to the games I already play on a regular basis, including MWO. :)

They have hands from... always having them. Someone forgot that in TT you could pick up stuff and hit mechs with them.

Hawken is a shooter, MWO is a in-universe sim, MWLL is a sandbox sim.

From mmorpg.com:
http://www.mmorpg.co...Bath-Salts.html

Straight said - since Doom (which i enjoyed very much for the single time playing through) i have not played a shooter bcs i dislike the gameplay (both single and multiplayer modes).
I dont care that it looks good in its own way and that there is no torso twist which makes it easier for fps gamers to get into it - it simply has zero point that motivates me to play it.
I play action adventure/rpgs/sim if they be very good like Outcast or VtmB or Crimson Skies and hopefully MWO but a straight shooter will never set feet on my HD.

Hmm. Having now seen a gameplay teaser trailer for Hawken, I get the impression there is too much jump jetting around and the movement speed is too high. Not quite what I want from a Mech game. But it looks pretty good.

Hawken looks awsome; like shogo!

But big mechs provide a much cooler experience and something you can play for more then a few matches on your own.

Why vs? Play both, they are both F2P.

But then play MWO more!

Or at least spend more money on mwo. I dont have anything against hawken, but its not MechWarrior, and the camera movement makes me nausiated. Every now and then I cant play lights with xls but for the moat part mwo doesnt effect me like the hawken trailers do.

Their enlistment system is awsome though; Im pretty sure it works great and MWO probably should of done the same thing.

the old topic was moved to off-topic forum and this one probably will too...here it is:

My feeling is that people here should be rooting for Hawken's success. Even if you hate the game...competition is good for innovation and keeps both companies honest. Your preferred game will be better off with strong competition.

Yeah right... look what happened to Star Trek and Star Wars games. Cities of Heroes and Champion Online.

Competition isn't everything.

they just couldn't keep up... Competition isn't everything...it's the only thing. When you don't have competition you no longer have to try. When you no longer have to try your customers are stuck with whatever crap you put out there.

From what I understand, Hawken is a FPS where as MechWarrior is a strategic Mech combat game. I think the differences will be quite large. FPS fans will no doubt flock to Hawken but players like myself, that like there to be more to a game than just "shoot them first" will favor MechWarrior.

because throwing down a hologram that has a turret inside of it to make it look like a mech shooting you while you double back to flank the enemy is not strategic (sarcasm.) There will be strategy and more examples than that even...it's just a different game.

Well, I've been part of the Alpha 2 for Hawken, now the first closed beta event that just ended  I've also been playing MWO beta for a while, and I have to say - I'm sold to the Hawken gameplay more. But I came here from the Battlefield 3 camp, hence I prefer more action. I mean - I like strategic approaches, I just find MW steering as unnecessarily overcomplicated. But it's just a matter of personal preference after all. It's good that after so many years we will finally have some nice and different titles to choose from

I will be playing HAWKIN, Mechwarrior online turned into a complete flop for me, MWO could of been sooo much better if developers really new what people wanted, it's clunky, it's a stick figure with a rotating torso that shoots laserbeams and missels and everyone looks the same

Hawken was too fast paced for me. MWO forever for me.
