I would like specific support for the Steel Battalion Behemoth controller.

30 light up buttons (1 of which covered by a flip-cover) and 2 normal ones (on the right stick), 5 switches, a dial, 2 joysticks, 3 foot pedals, a trigger, a clickable thumbstick, a gearshift

PC Drivers: https://sites.google...redirects=0&d=1
How to make a USB adapter: http://www.velocityr...sb-adapter.html (it's very easy, it literally takes minutes and cost me about $2 for a spare XBOX breakaway cable)

I fully understand that it's a niche within a niche. But my god, can you imagine how awesome it'd be to play with this without needing to spend an hour setting it up in a third-party program (like xpadder) and supporting the light-up buttons?

Capcom/MS ruined Steel Battalion by putting it on Kinect, but you can undo their damage.

No, didn't even check. This is a case of great minds thinking alike

Yes, I posted the links to do so. You can make an adapter in minutes.

One does not need to try something that removes everything great about the first two games to know it won't be like the first two games.

More on topic, I think this would be a fun idea but how hard would it be to include support for it dev. wise? As much as it would make me smile I suspect (maybe I'n wrong) that most people don't have one of these coffee table covering control layouts still hanging around in working condition. If I'm right then taking the time to include support might not be particularly worthwhile overall.

I don't see this as something the Devs would want to (or even could legally) implement on their own.

http://vt.beckament.net/ Check out this site for references on getting the stick to work with MW4.

Supposedly this thing works.

You guys are in essence asking PGI to build a driver for a joystick that was never meant to work on a PC. If you want it to work on a PC, you gotta jump through hoops on your end. PGI, I don't think, will have a hand in this at all.

I have one of these sticks... if I can get it to work with this game when it comes out - rest assured, you all will see a post here from me talking about it.

Like the first ones, perhaps not.
Ruined? One does need to try something new to decide if it's ruined or not. Otherwise It is simply an assumption...And you know, you should never assume...

SB controller? Hmm... I have a better idea! What about a MWO controller. :) Something on the scale of Steel Battalion's behemoth but custom built with controlling MWO mechs in mind. Make it a part of the limited-edition fan kit, say a MWO controller, a poster, a t-shirt, an art book(all in a cool, MW-themed crate, of course) and a code to unlock lots and lots of online stuff, including custom limited-edition trinkets, like camos, crests, badges etc etc. Now this is the sh#t I will pay $200 without any second thoughts(even though delivering it to my hell hole would be another $100  ). Come one, PGI, make this happen! It will make an already awesome game truly legen... wait for it... DARY!

Something like your saying might happen Silk, but almost no way we will be seeing it at launch. Perhaps if the game enjoys some consistant succes they will throw money at making us some custon periphereals.

As long as it reads as a standard joystick I don't see why not. OTOH if it is going to require custom code- it was rare when it was new and hasn't been available for years and years. Seems like there are other things (track IR) that would be a better use of manpower....

Couldn't you just hook up two joysticks? I guess this ends up being cheaper overall, but you could just grab two joysticks and one of these, or something like it.

Also what's the benefit to using a joystick over a mouse? Doesn't seem like it's as precise. Seems like the real benefit is just more actually usable (as opposed to the keyboard hunt and peck) buttons.

I would caution against getting the Switch panel, as it is designed to work with Microsoft FSX only. It doesn't register as a USB device, and uses a proprietary software to map keys to FSX.

There's no reason this can't be made to work through 3rd party support once the game is released just by mapping keybinds and such. I have one of these babies sitting in my closest and would love to use it.

Just for legal reasons alone, though, it's not something the devs should worry about. This is definitely a hardcore fan kinda project specifically.

^ That still wouldn't work with the light up buttons.

Really, when I saw what they were charging for what amounts to a dozen switches and a USB controller, I realized that it's already a bad recommendation.

And I wouldn't call Mechwarrior a sim. It has sim elements, but it has neither exhaustive start up procedures nor clickable cockpits, and it's IK calculations are limited to animation rather than maintaining balance. It's also suspiciously easy to regulate a nuclear reactor and manage so many munitions. Instead, everything is "Nominal".

That new Steel Battalion game also looks like a really cool concept. It'd be nice if MWO had Kinect support also

Technically, there are opensource drivers out there already for the Steel Battalion controller. I don't know whether they've been updated for Vista/7/8 yet, or at least Vista/7, but it shouldn't be any trouble for anyone with the know to recompile the source for any OS.

That said, it would be a HUGE plus to MWO to do so, and add native support for this mammoth beast. Anyone who has this would almost be certainly guarenteed to play this game. And who knows, maybe the developers here could get in touch with the controller manufacturer and released a MWO edition ;) (no new features, just reskin/update buttons/lights etc to remain compatitable), and slap on an official USB connector so new buyers don't have to hunt down (and/or) make their own original xbox-to-usb connector (the original xbox btw IS usb, just a round "xbox proprietary" version, wires inside do the exact same thing, on the exact same USB interface..

Hope this happens, I'll start playiung for sure.

Sorry to necro an old thread, but SB controllers work in Win 7 now...

New driver and MWO profile available in same thread: http://mwomercs.com/...64-bit-drivers/
