Every year the boundary between honest traders and pirates gets thinner.
As legend has it, Corey Chang acquired Highpoint Traders in a game of cards in 3020. The company prospered trading between the Draconis Combine and the Capellan Confederation prior to the Fourth Succession War. Highpoint is notorious for skirting the law, and has become rather infamous for its smuggling activities in the Federated Commonwealth. Its expertise in the shadier aspects of shipping have earned it some official recognition, however, as the company has been known to act as couriers for official goods and passengers (as well as a route for clandestine agents to sneak into unfamiliar territory).
No solid evidence has ever been produced regarding Highpoint's involvement in Periphery piracy; perhaps as a testament to Chang's cunning and ruthlessness.

The periphery states need to be viable player options! Marian Hegemony ftw! They even make Centurions there.
