I know there have only been 2 of these posts, but I get a feeling we will see a few more them, but it seems that Dev's have geared up to show off some of the alt configs of mechs, the C9-D Centurion and the AS7-K Atlas.

Now the reason I bring this up is for really two points, One, its starlegue rediscovered tech. How do you feel about this? And the second point is the AS7-K Is a 3050, I could be wrong, but i was under the impression it was built in response to the clans?

Thoughts, feeling, ideas? if you guys want to go off topic, please let me know

as long as there are down sides to XL engines, im fine with it. and all the new tech is more expensive to buy and maintain

on the other hand, it just seems unnatural for a centurion to go 97kph

I think they're going to try and provide at least 1 or 2 variant options to upgrade/sidegrade into for each mech, even if they have to flex timelines a little. It makes for a better game when everything has options, and realistically most players aren't going to list 'strict adherance to timeline' as a major reason they play.

I like it, to be honest. I like starlegue stuff better then standard equipment anyway. I like starlegue mechs better. We all knew they were going to flex time lines though..

Helm memory core anyone????

"The Helm Memory Core, also often referred to as the Gray Death Memory Core, was a Star League library included in a much larger storage facility on the planet Helm. Its official designation identification was "Star League Field Library Facility, Helm, DE890-2699".[1]
After its discovery in 3028, the information preserved here played a significant part in overcoming the state of technological decline (LosTech) that the Inner Sphere suffered from in the early 31st century."
"Not trusting ComStar in this matter, the Legion produced several copies of the library and spread them to the best of their abilities, initially by handing over copies to free traders. The library core thus found its way into every Successor State within a few years, and sparked a technological renaissance. The Legion also gave a copy of the Core to Duke Ricol for aiding in their escape. He would eventually provide it to Theodore Kurita and the Draconis Combine.[5]"

As described here:http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Helm_Memory_Core

Still does not change the fact that the AS7-K was produced in *response* to the clans, the problem isnt lost tech, its the flex of the time line. Not that I have a problem with it, but I wanted to pose it to the community to see how you folks feel about it

Einstein proved that time is really spacetime nearly 100 years ago. Time is flexible and bendy around very heavy objects. The Atlas is apparently one such object. Get with the times!

Never, Painsmithe, never. Why you ask? Because you asked. Its like a kettle, the more you watch it, the longer it takes to boil. And it takes so long to boil because there will be no lasers in MW:O so you cant flash boil thing.

According the Inner Sphere News Feed, the AS7-K Atlas was only test-fired today. Mass production of the unit probably didn't occur until 3050. The timeline is intact in my eyes

I can't wait for the clans myself. I've been a member of Clan Ghost Bear here in Denver for years.

The AS7-K was formally introduced in 3049, which is the current year. It was built in response to the formation of the Federated Commonwealth and reintroduction of Lostech. I can see Lostech, which was already being reintroduced at this time, being a highly sought over commodity on the black market.

seth has it right. The mech was prototyping in 3048 and came into production end of 3048 into 3049. The Tro may say 3050 but if you check the production start date they are always before 3050.

The variants should all be available (tech willing) through the module system.

Personally, I just wonder if the variants will be selectable preset load-outs in the mechlab. I don't think I'll mind a bit of time line flexing, which I don't think is the case here (as Seth points out).
