Maybe, is this still valid? I havent heard anything about any of these coming down the pipeline, which you would think would have happened a year later.
Anyway, Hoplight has ECM, which at the time of poll wouldnt matter, but it does now.
But i dont care for any of the 3, I want this:

Dervish and Kintaro. Both could hit ludicrous speed easily, and carry a good mix of missiles and energy weapons. Would be great light hunters methinks.
As far as the asthetics, I agree. HOWEVER, Alex is a genius with mech design. He can make ugly things objects of desire better than Tequila can. And both mechs are but a blank canvas! They are both so generic that Alex would have far more license to make something spectacular.

Functionally: The Dervish and Kintero seem to be very similar, with laser/ missile loadouts. With recent changes to missiles in the game, neither thrills me all that much, and both are just bringing more of the same, but 5 tons heavier compared to mechs like the SP or Zombie.
Hoplite: It seems that mechs 50 tons or less haven't been particularly good platforms for ballistics, while heavy mechs do seem to be able to use them reasonably well, even if they aren't my favorite weapon system. So will ballsitics on the Hoplite sink or swim? I can't say, but the fact that this is supposed to be a slow chassis is troubling as it's only a medium mech despite having decent armor. What I can say is that 1) of the 3 choices, the Hoplite is the most unique and does the best job of adding something new to the game and 2) in the absence of everyone's favorite IS 55 tonner, the Bushwacker, the Hoplite fits this niche acceptably.
My vote goes to the Hoplite.

Dervish would be my runner up pick though...
Do we need another Trebuchet? If only we could warp time forward for the Bushwacker...
