I, along with many other posters I've seen, have a Sidewinder Force Feedback 2.

For most games, it is a Sidewinder precision 2 with electric motors instead of springs.

Vibration features are also available on some game controllers that can easily be connected to a PC through the use of bluetooth or USB (Xbox360, Wii, PC controllers, etc.) and it would certainly add a great deal of immersion to the game.

I'd really like for some good force feedback to be included in this game (even if it's lostech and I have to wait until 3050 for the clans to get here :D) and not have to use my crappy GlovePIE skills to make the trigger button activate vibration :).

Semi satirical ending thought:
http://www.amazon.co...018167&sr=1-122 might be a bit excessive...

FF is a MUST have. I too had the Sidewinder and Sidewinder 2 FF stick, but that was back in the day. Too bad M$ in their genius haven`t updated that amazing FF stick.

Check this out man

I used to use this to make my own quasi force feedback effects profiles in games that didn`t support it natively. It`d be sweet if MWO line does, but if not maybe we can make some decent profiles. I have not tried this with win 7 yet.

If you have the Sidewinder FF stick, on that link is a link to their online effects library. Give it a try. Should work.

Apparently ya gotta buy the full version to save the IFR profiles. As well there is another older software by Immersion called Touchware Gaming. It automaticly makes a Force effects profile based on the sound effects ingame. This might be cool if someone can find it online. Immersion discontinued it way back, but it did work.

ack, I hadn't even considered the possibility it wouldn't be supported! I just bought one of the newish logitech (640?) HOTAS setups with rudder pedals and ff stick. It's sweet.. only had a few minutes to check it out before going to the in-laws for the weekend where I sit on the netbook right now.

so FF, yes please!

Pffft. Better to vibrate your butt/back, than to knock your aim off... http://www.ivibe.com/ ;)

I don't get why a fly-by wire stick would exhibit any force feedback? My logitech steering wheel, sure, but it seems out of place on a stick unless you're flying/driving something with direct linkage from stick to control units/surfaces. Or are you more interested in some vibration when your mech gets hit?

You are in a way right. But force effects are cool none the less. And tactile feedback really helps with immersion. I like feeling weap impacts, explosions... feel the Mech swaying with a slight joystick pull when moving etc. When beginning to move forward, you`d feel the stick pull slightly forward.... it felt.... heavy. Mechwarrior 3 had AWESOME force effects.

Is it a dealbreaker if the game doesn`t support FF? No. But when Immersion is still offering the Software SDK dev kit, and it doesn`t cost an arm and a leg.... why not add it in?

Is it a dealbreaker if joysticks will generally not be supported in MWO ... I definitely think so (a mouse-and-keyboard-only controlled simulation would be quite a bad joke)... and it may happen (why else would they have excluded it from the last developers blog???) ... let's wait and see but my hopes for the game have suffered a setback with the last developers update ...

Some where here I read that we will be able to use them, also we will have the ability to map just about anything,

I could be wrong , ????

Im gonna have my kid stand next to me with a base ball bat ,for when my mech gets hit.

it will keep me on my toes.

Aww you suck!! Got me all excited as that is exactly what I've been looking for but it is no longer supported =( In fact, based on the forum it looks like support for it was spotty at best right from the beginning. The most recent posts are from 2009 and 2010 =(

Don't go by that. TFS3 is a recent upgrade to the TFS2, and is being actively sold. Message traffic in Eagle Dynamics forums confirms this. Contact the people, and you should be able to get what you want. The web site is admittedly less than fully inspiring of confidence, but the product is actively supported.

I am a longtime fan of the old Mechwarrior games, and I used to love playing it with Force Feedback - feeling the motion as I stomped around was just about the greatest memory of my youth.

Anyway, I just read on the FAQ for this game that while Joysticks will be supported, there is no word on whether or not Force Feedback will be a part of that support. I have actually been looking into buying a new Joystick for this game (my Sidewinder 2 died after years of service), but am having problems locating a new force feedback stick that works in Windows 7. The only one I can find right now is the Logitech Flight System 940 for $250, sadly. If anybody knows of any force feedback sticks that work in Windows 7, I would LOVE to hear about it. (To my knowledge, the Sidewinder 2 force doesn't work in Windows 7, but I hope that's not correct. Maybe in XP compatability mode?)
