This is a different poll. PS, if I didn't have an option for you, choose the one that is closest and reply please.

EDIT: There is now a "Raid for blueprints" option

No custom weapons, but I feel MechLab should let you nice and free to refit your mech how you wish. My hopes it is costs a pretty Cbill, and that it actually takes some real time to have the techs refit it. So you have to go make you mech and maybe wait 20 min to go try it out in a battle.

Custom weapons? I think you has between zero and nill chance of that happening. I'm still hoping for the Stratops refit rules, or a variation of it.

hmmm, i wonder if the ML should be an in game purchase item (by xp AND cbills, not premium currency).

Then once you reach a proficiency you can customize and upgrade (no to custom weapons however) based within the parameters of the chassis selected.

Even if it is in a simmilar vein to MW4 (which, from reading the phrasing of the selections, seems to be your primary experience with the genre) the mech lab (if included at all) should enable customization of all applicable equipment.

Custom weapons though are a hell no.

Key tip off was the use of LAMS to refer to Laser Anti-Missile System. It also refers to Land-Air Mechs (an older use of the accronym).

A day or two would be preferable to the underlined section for me.

Custom weapons, eh? Sounds like a plan, who'D wnat to bother himself to field a full company of 12 Mechs anymore whe one single Mech with a shoulder-mounted ICBM can probably do so much more...? I so totally need to invent that "custom weapon" now, how much fish and gold do I need to farm for that? :)

Well, I did think that the game would adjust like so with the weapon stats:

More power=More tonnage, higher cost/cost to make, more heat
Less reload time=More tonnage, higher cost/cost to make, more heat
Less heat=Higher reload time, More tonnage, Less power
Less tonnage=All features decrees by the factor of tonnage decreasment

That minimizes spam (10000 power weapon for free and .1 tons). There would also be a limit to the power, speed. etc. But it was just an idea.

Custom weapons? Why woud we need custom weapons?
Seriously, aside from loads of canon weapons available, some of the level 3 stuff is really interesting.

What would sort of be cool, is sort of like how EVE does it.

One would build up the skill to design new weapons (not everyone can, but only a person with Tech skill could). Then a new Blue print is discovered on a planet and your faction has to RAID (and win) for your technicians to be able to acquire that Blue print to be able to then build that type of weapon.

Then either the entire faction can build that Blue print or just those who have raided and won can build it. Maybe the more powerful the tech the more limited it is.

Then before a battle (or during) a Technician would hit a Mechlab and equip the lab with special weapons (specific for that mission), which other Mechwarriors could then use and equip.

This would make a TechWarrior more desirable. He would still be a mechwarrrior, but that may not be his primary skill set, just like a scout may not have Gunner as primary skill set. A TechWarrior could also have mechs which repair other mechs on the battlefield.

This way new tech can be introduced into the game, which is controlled by the game designers. It gives access to the players, and reasons/objects to have them.

I say no: to players designing totally custom weapons. Game balance reasons.

Mechlab is a must have IMHO.
Custom Weapons? NEVER EVER EVER... If I want custom weapons, I will go find myself the modders server, and download the mods.

I dont know, this could be a real pain if I just wanted to change out a few weapons (having 2 wait even 3 minutes would suck)
i can see it now, your friends jump into a game without you because really 5 minutes of nothing but waiting for your imaginary mech to have its weapons installed? I like simulation but this is taking it to far

/rant over
