Iam really looking forward to have my light mech fitted with jumpjets ;) Boing! Weeeeee! Boing Weeeee!.
We saw a little snippet of them in the trailer so are any of you going to have jumpjets on your mech?
Do you love em or hate em?

Love jump jets , get a top of the head alpha shot on a catapult , then run away laughing in my light , just to do it all again.

I think the addition of z axis game play really gives some nice tactical options, looks pretty cool too.

I do like the idea of jump jets and their usefulness in tactics. I will wait to see how we can controll them before i decide to use them. If they are easy to control yes i will use them if its a p.i.t.a then more then likely not to much.

I suck at using jump jets. I'm not that good and I usually land in the wrong area. Give me a ground hugger and I'm a happy camper.

I too love the JJs. It adds a whole new skill angle to the mix of piloting. I just hope it is done cool, and convincingly.

I cannot wait to see how they are implemented in MWO.

I have a Love/Hate relationship with JJs. As I think most people should, if they are done correctly.

MWLL , IMHO, seems to do them justice. They are very very useful traversing rough terrain, gaining height, etc. But there's a noticeable pause on landing. You cannot immediately start moving after a jump. Your 'mech takes a few seconds to land, and gain its balance before you can attempt to move.

They are useful in battle, and in scouting. But not so very overpowered.

I'm a big fan of the Catapult (and it's jump jets!)

In many table-top games Jump-jets really give you an edge in maneuverability, I hope this will be rendered well with MW:O.
Using jump jets to get to hard to reach hiding spots, shower the enemy with LRMs, get out fast when cornered by a Commando!

I have high hopes that we will finally be able to DFA effectively! (or at least jump above the enemy, land behind him and BAM it him the flank!)

I'm guessing this is an assumption on your part. We have no idea how much control we'll have over our flight path using JJs yet. I hope it's similar to the TT where they add a great deal of maneuverability and allow you to change direction and facing during the jump. I'd be highly disappointed if you can only jump up or in a straight line.

Bring on JJs, and let them actually work as intended.

Im a huge fan of jumpjets for mobility and tactics. I think they are integral part of the game. I definitely want to see them balanced for role warfare and should probably be more effective for lights and meds than for heavies and certainly assaults.

One of my current goals in the game is to perform the first in-game Highlander Burial.

Jets mean more customization options and more combat options for the game, so I'm all for it. Naturally, it needs to be balanced so that we don't have constant pop sniping, but viable enough to do effectively jump on top of mechs to inflict damage.

Yah in mw3 the utility was huge. Learning to shoot in the air is just another skill

i love jumpjets, from 35 toned pogo sticks to 100 tonner, but with those guys i use them as a cussioner from falling, my favorite tactic in MW3 was almost any 35 tonner, ER large lazer about 6-8 double heatsinks, 5 jumpjets, a couple of beads and bangles to fill it out, sneak up behind 100 tonners, jump, land on there shoulders or heads, look down and FIRE!, as they start to fall, pogp off in search of my next target.

I don't know about anyone else, but in MW4 I always used JJs so that I could get a steady shot. While in the air you don't have the jostling associated with walking on uneven ground. I wonder if MWO will have the same dynamic.

Hopefully not. In Battletech you had an accuracy penalty for firing while in the air. Plus, if combat were easier from the air, why have ground pounders in the first place?

Are you talking about the 2009 trailer? I don't remember seeing any jumpjets showcased in gameplay footage.

IMO, JJ's will be useful as far as navigating terrain and getting yourself to advantageous locations (or attempting DFA's) as well as decreasing the ETA to locations by jumping barriers which would otherwise force players to take a specific route.

But in battle, I can't see their use. The shaking from the thrust would really throw off your aim to the point where it might render you less combat effective and the linear path you take while airborne is easy for the enemy to lead since you cannot shift your flight direction into other vectors.

In the latest trailer a mech is seen jumping onto a building and then the mech you see being controled blows up that building with missiles.
