Correction, they previously stated they hoped it would be in open beta around the end of summer but due to UNFORESEEN PROBLEMS this is not the case and will not be the case either. There is no official date, "it's done when it's done", just like DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.

Except not as bad, even though DNF was a funny game.

Early October you can buy a copy of PC Gamer for a beta key plus a free mech skin.

FTP games usually go through a period of 'promotional partner' beta key giveaways before moving to open beta. The PC Gamer issue will be big publicity.

yeah...i was looking forward to it...but the crashes recently...kinda gave me a hint to wait a bit longer..i'll be checking back frequently but hey MWT is making progress

Yeah, despite popular belief the game is still being tested for major and minor bugs, on both the players' side and the developers' (servers, data backup, etc.). It's less about balance and more making sure you get the reward you were supposed to get, and making sure you have the correct number of shots, and that heat management is working correctly, and seeing how different computer setups handle the game. Everything from sound effects to spawn points to C-bill output and economy is still being checked and double-checked.

It's hard work, but totally worth it!

But yeah, the game isn't quite ready yet, once it is I'm expecting open beta and the community warfare part of the game to start.
Closed beta is easy to get into.
