Just another update for you gents.

Check out this article at Digitaltrends (off site link) for some cool little bits of information. The part that stood out the most to me was this little paragraph:

Quote

Other modes are possible in addition to the core 12v12. Drop Ship is one example, allowing players to bring three mechs into battle; if what you’re piloting is destroyed, the next mech in your lineup gets dropped into the battle.

Was just wondering about that myself Cattra. Sort of like that idea too. Higher risk (more to repair!) but more play time. Though as he said...

Quote

Other modes are possile...

So who knows if that will specifically happen but I would love to see shuffled mission objectives etc at least.

Yes, some (just one..) of the screenshots are in a high resolution. The image viewer on joystiq all resizes them to the same size in your browser. If you want to see the original resolution, just download them and do whatever you want with them or right click on the image and choose "View Image" (in FireFox for instance).

Uhm, what was the point of that? B) He wanted to know whether the screenshots were available in a higher resolution and you just mashed them to gether into one image, where each image has an even smaller resolution than in the image viewer from Joystiq. ;)

For the non-tech-savvy folks, here are the direct links to the images:

Depends on which site you viewed them from. The site I saw them from was using a carousel to view them at reduced sizes. I took the source images and made a composite based on the non-scaled versions.

Pfft, 2 mechs, 1 map? I'd play it as is right now ;) but either way it's looking fun.

Awesome!... no, he's not there, I'd swear I saw him on one of those (probably just my imagination). B)

Can we get pictures of some more interesting mechs, please?
Both of these aren't used here, over at CC, and I would really love to see a Jenner, Catapult, or even a Centurion in the game. ;)

Hands down my favorite of the batch. The way the Hunnchback is standing with the camera angle is perfect. It's a beautiful, imposing machine of war. Bueno.

A four letter word called 'Hope'.

The Hunchback's concept art looks great, and he's exactly as I pictured him with those screenshots. The Centurion (though a great, classic chassis in lore) its visualization took a drastic aesthetic turn away from the style the Hunch and Atlas exude. Instead, it began to look more and more like a Gundam. My hope is that the modelers will take some freedom with the implementation or that the Centurion's concept art gets updated down the line.

Would LOVE to see the Catapault in a screenie.

The only thing I don't love about the centurion is the big head fin/shoulder fin. I understand where it's coming from though, because... well centurions have fins. http://www.sarna.net...on_(BattleMech) If you tweak the design too much, then it's not a centurion, it's just random burly mech A.

I don't get how you see gundam at all with the concept art. Fins or no, it looks like a burly machine of death,

If you ask me, though I understand this is subjective, there are amazing similarities.

I still cant get over how great a job the modelers did in converting the artwork to 3d Mechs. So many little details on them, the joints, arms, hands, etc.

Seriously though, when can we start giving you guys money? ;)

Engine

Gyro
Status: Stability Compromised

Life Support

Looks like Gyro and Engine shielding Crits are in.

Its the legs. The shape of the leg below the knee, due to that sloping figure, makes it appear much like a Gundam's leg.

Wow - they are really similar...

Of course, the pose itself is pretty universal. But to some extant, I do think of the centurion a little differently - not so much " I will rip you to shreds and eat you" [it reminded me of predator a bit lol] but rather "I am a professional machine of war designed to crush opposition"

In that sense, I think that for sure the "real" centurion will be a bit stiffer [sortof] than the concept in as much as we def. have not seen the "real" hunchback striking in its concept pose. Rather it is standing rather staunchly. I think the centurion will turn out pretty cool. Props to the devs, these photos are fatastic. So much of what at least I have always longed for in a mech game, finally done right. And with constant improvements too - since it is online!

Dropship mode, apparently everyone gets a 3 mech dropship Cube. I thought we were special Paul! ;)
