I'm not entire certain how you can compare:
  • An 80-ton Jump-capable mech mounting a AC/20 (or Gauss Rifle sometimes) and SRMs
  • A 70-ton non-jumping mech that mains PPCs
That said, between the two, I prefer the Victor.

I don't always pilot unseen 'mechs, but when I do...

I prefer TWIN PPCs!

Warhammer: I hit at twice the range with pinpoint accuracy. If you haven't got legs to run with you aren't getting to me... ask me why I shoot the legs?

On planet Bowling ball (no trees, hills or terain other than flat slightly rolling hills) I would have to chose the Warhammer, though it is far from my favorite mech. That said anywhere else I would take the Victor.
So officaly: Victor.

This is like apples and oranges.

The Warhammer (I'm assuming the WHM-6) is designed as a sniper. It doesn't have the armor to engage at close-range against many mechs of similar or superior weight classes.

The Victor (again, I'm assuming the VTR-9B) has a completely different mission profile. While the Victor also has relatively light armor for its weight class, it has superb speed and dexterity for an assault mech and its AC/20 can do horrific damage.

If this poll is about which mech I would rather pilot of the two, the answer is the Victor. Jump jets can be very handy in TT games where the planets aren't mostly flat and mostly open countryside (and where you can't just run through forests or just shoot through heavy tree cover without a care in the world). Also, the AC/20 is one of my favorite weapons in the BT universe.

If this poll is about which mech would win in an actual vs. match then it would all depend on the situation. If the Warhammer had open terrain and few intervening obstacles to block its shots then it would command a considerable advantage. However, in most battles the Victor would be far more versatile, and the Warhammer isn't going to last long against an AC/20 at close range.

In regards to MWO, it really depends on what role you've geared up for. Victor will be best for assault role players and Lyran recon units, while the Warhammer would be more useful as a command or defensive unit because of it's range advantage. It DOES sound like we'll have a chance to modify load outs from what I read in the recent info dumps, so this could all change.

Now Victor vs Stalker would be a bit closer comparison I think, or Whammy vs Marauder.

Victor - my own personall favorite, can't really say If I can state anything specific about it's loadout, armor, weight or what it is good at... cause it doesn't matter. What I am sure though Is that whenever I piloted Victor in any MW game, I was having a blast and my enemies recived the other side of my 'joy'... and while Warhammer was rad too, I felt like I was a better pilgrim of entertainment, bringing foes my smile and laughter, while I sat in my Voctor.

Tough call both are good machines but I would have to go with the Victor the 3050 version would be my first choice since then I would have some range punch if I was only looking at 3025 I would probably go with the warhammer one of the variants thou try out some of those secondary weapons for armor and heat sinks.

But generally the Victor would be my first choice the JJ give it a strong mobility advantage which is always nice and the punch power of the ac/20 is never in question.

Victor. VTR-9D - An upgrade using Star League technology, the 9D replaces the Autocannon/20 with a Gauss Rifle which can do serious damage at much greater ranges. The 'Mech also carries two Medium Pulse Lasers and a SRM-4 launcher for close combat. In order to make these changes possible, the 9D is built on an Endo Steel chassis. With the weight saved the 'Mech also carries an additional ton of armor[11]. BV (1.0) = 1,634, BV (2.0) = 1,717[11]

WHM-*D

The Victor may have the advantage in armor, IS, etc., but don't under-estimate what a stand-off platform will do while you close on me.

Jump and put a AC 20 in someone's back. Love the hammer, but it is just to ineffecent for my tastes.

While I love the PPCs of the Warhammer 6R, I reallly love the mobility (eg Jumpjets) of the Victor.

The reality of it all though is this. Company sized battles (as confirmed in the game play video, 12 vs 12), your in trouble with the victor.

Yea,in the Victor 9B you can jump about and what not, but your limited to what, 15 rounds for 3T of ammo (they may increase this for game play, we shall have to see), so you could find yourself in dire straights long before the battle is over unless you pick your shots VERY carefully.

That then leaves you with 2 medium grade lasers and a SRM4 with 25 rounds of ammo.

The whammy has only the SRM6 and the twin sperry browning machine guns to worry about for ammo. When your cycling your PPCs, you still have more in close punch than the victor in the form of 2 mediums, 2 small, the six pack SRM and the machine guns.

And as for armour, the 9B has 11.5t, the 6R has 10.0t. The speed is the same 43kph/65kph for these two.

Unless you have some friends who are gonna tie your chosen victim opponent up long enough for you to get in range and use the Pontiac on him, well, think long and hard about what your gonna take into battle.

Just my thoughts.

No. No, he's not. HildCo is on St. Ives, which is currently free of the Capellan Confederation's grossly incompetent rule. The only other factory making them at this point is Quentin, in the Draconis Combine.

Victor.

Warhammer 6R is a walking ammo dump waiting to be outmaneuvered and popped.

Warhammer by far is the more usefull mech, Being able to keep enemies at long range and then close to short range with a withering array of short range stuff. Of course this works well for closing on target from range. Or urban and confined spaces combat with firepower to exploit during key moments.

No to Victor, Yes to Warhammer, which is my favorite mech, especially in K modifications. My heart always goes out to PPCs. And there is nothing more soothing than to spray PPC-punctured armor with SRMs)

And it's strange to compare two mechs of different weigh and even different role, if we are talking about basic Victor)

PS I hope they make an option for dumping the ammo. That concerns me if WHM is in the game and I get to ride it in basic R variant <_<

This an interesting one and it is a closer match up then you might think. I'm going to go with the Victor because it's a challenge to pilot but absolutely devastating when done well.

It all depends on the terrain. On open ground the Warhammer has the advantage, but if the Victor can get to medium range then the equation changes. The Warhammer doesn't have the armour to take AC20 rounds for long, and while that extra armour doesn't seem like much the fact that damage is split into 2 lots of 10 as opposed to 1 group of 20 makes a significant difference.

In a city the Victor is one of the ultimate mechs and can take on anything if well piloted areas.
