This is simply just too frigging

AWESOME

(I had promised myself to not use that word until the release of the Awesome.. but the video is too good)

To ALL at PGI.. Thanks for everything.. and all your hard work

GDC was everything we could have hope for or expected
( other than closed Beta annoucement and release of the Awesome ) .

The Game looks to be even better than I had even dared hoped.. !

I simply can't wait to start playing it and sending you large copious amounts of cash in the near future :P

Now the big question.. The interview and live footage was released late yesterday.. does that make it the info for today.. ? Like when you released the drop video ?

If not does that mean the last thing we want from GDC is around the corner (Closed BETA Invites :D ) ?

OR

Has the fat lady sung on all the big news from GDC ??

Russ.?

Bryan..?

Paul..?

Matt..?

Anyone..? You can speak in code.. :o

Spoiler

In response to the guy not liking the lasers, They look great IMO :P . Thats Exactly what a huge powerful laser would look like on a planet with an atmosphere, a solid beam of perfectly straight light.

I would like to take a little bitter side overview to what I've seen in this gameplay video.

Though I'm very much like the look of the mechs and engine's features and effects, I feel tremendously worried up by the environment. Most of the time _I__can't__feel__the__scale_. Anybody feels he is a small guy atop the giant machine? Anyone feels 10 or 12 meters below? It's because we don't have any recognizable size objects to compare with. Okay, this map is some desolate outskirts of some.. radar station or whatever.. don't they have coastal roads at all, some hunting\fishing woodhouses, bridges, boats, jeeps, wheeltracks on the ground or stuff like that? At least some fences? Any of this stuff, if looking realistic with some hint on required detail level, will immediately give you the sense of scale. Trees hardly count that much, they can be any size, and here they also stick out of water just like that. I also couldn't believe in strange crates labyrinth in the water, and the water itself shows the waves a size as if mechs were human-size, just go and look at the water from 10 meters above! I know that something can be done about this. Giant robots need the sense of height. Also hope to see some destruction on the ground) Yeah, I know it's only the first demo, right :P
Atlas's head seemed to blow off too easily, hope the heads won't be that easy to hit.
A bit sorry there wasn't shown any pilot free-look or action inside the cockpit, but anyway, it looks good and graphics is overall fascinating.
As for the gameplay I have no questions, it looks pretty much great.
So if you dev guys are reading this, don't be offended, you are doing a great job, but please, take it into consideration and do your best possible. We have stacks of money ready for you :D

P.S. Can't wait to jump into one of these monsters and go Ka-POW'ing people)

Wasn't it stated from the very opening of this site, that it will start August 2012?

The game play footage is simply awesome! What's eating me alive is the fact that I'll never have the money to buy or even build my own machine to run this awesome game that I grew up to. So I was kind of let down by the fact that there will not be a console release anytime soon. :P

Taking a step back for a second.

While I'm sure the PGI team got all sorts of kudos from their peers at the GDC... Poking their noggins into the forum and seeing us all gush over the game-play video like crushing school girls, has to give them some serious vindication for all their work to this point...

Salute guys... Take the constructive criticism for what it is and know you've done an outstanding job.

You've got my cash... and believe me, I'm a flipping tight-wad. :P

I completely agree!!

Now, if only there was some other way to *vindicate* their hard work . . . perhaps they could provide us with a machine of some sort whose primary function was vindication . . . ?

:D

Seriously though, I can't believe how amazed and excited I am!!!

The laser scarring and heat glow is a big thumbs up!

The LRMs lofting gracefully into the sky to come crashing down on the enemy...breathtaking!

The smoke plumes and violent shaking from AC rounds is stunning!

The only downside is that I'm not playing it now!

:P

The game looks fantastic, the lasers, in my humble opinion, look awesome and look as if they make sense. Pulse lasers are cool and all but the length of the laser blasts in this make it look like the laser actually has time to dig into the armor!

This game has me so excited that I've started buying the Battletech series of books one by one (Got the Blood of Kerensky trilogy!) so that my knowledge of the Battletech universe will be more complete for the day the game releases! Good job PGI!

am curious to see footage with 6,7 mechs in frame firing, ONe thing mw4 had right was that there was for me zero hiccups no matter whats going on. mwll is so cpu intensive, hoping this engine is way more optimized for those situations and or mwo itself puts less stress on hardware all the way around than mwll does.
new calledonia map ftw btw. 8)
