When I just sit in and listen to what our guys have to say, how they operate, it's pretty dang brilliant. It makes me proud to be a part of them.
In only five or six months I already feel like these guys are going to be home for all the games I can get them to join.

Working and playing with all the new people joining the company is fun. We learn a lot from each other and make the team stronger.

When I say that I had a bad experience, I mean that I had a string of VERY bad experiences that came damn close to snuffing out my life. Not to mention destroying my body as a direct consequence of other people's stupidity in my chain of command. The hazing, abuse and random fistfights are no fun at all, either. I am comfortable playing with other vets, but not being told what to do in such an explicit manner. Too many bad memories associated.
Have fun hope to see you in game.

Sorry to hear about your past experiences. Sounds like real life handed you a **** sandwich and forced you to take a bite.
I wish you the best. Thank you for posting in our thread.

Understood. Our rank structure has a way to allow people to stay clear of directing orders and just be a joe in the game, so you wouldn't need to worry about that.
As to your getting barked at, you'd be surprised at how much you will actually be barking orders yourself in-game, regardless of taking care of yourself. "Get out of my way, dumb***" is a common one.

Seriously though, the amount of orders we really give usually pertain to controlling information on a few sensitive subjects, be a decent human being, and in-game tactical calls. We require a certain commitment on your time, usually about 3-4 hours out of the first 2-3 weeks, and we call out for your schedule now and again so we can build a T&E schedule around what time you and everyone else can attend.
That's less requirements than your relatives in New Hampshire have for you.
But the decision is yours. Best of luck in MWO!

I'm very sorry that you've had such terrible experiences, however I would be careful in the assumptions you seem to have made. First, yes we have a military style rank structure but that's pretty much where it ends. There's no oath where you swear to follow the lawful orders of your superiors or anything, no one is going to yell or intimidate you. The rank structure is just to provide a clearly defined chain of command to let you know who you need to talk to about what.
On another note, if you don't want to be promoted you won't be. You won't be forced to do something you're not willing to.
I just feel it would be a shame to not even try us out because of some assumptions. You can apply and see what we're all about; if you're still uncomfortable then that's where you can end it. No harm, no foul. And that's really the worst case scenario, the best case scenario might be that you have a lot in common with many others, prior military or not.
It's your choice, and either way I wish you well.
