EDIT--- Removed for sanity.

I'm not sure you understand the question at all, if I'm blunt. The Lead Designer uses a Logitech g940 FCS which combines; A two axis joystick, a One axis throttle and a one axis rudder pedal setup into *ONE USB DEVICE*. Meaning no problems had, game reads *ONE* game controller with 4 axes and however many buttons. This information is of no use at all.

On a calmer note, to the developers; I'm only after a nod here, not a breakdown of your planned hardware support. I'm not interested in working out something you don't want to say/confirm yet. I would simply like to know if your game can read axis information from multiple usb devices simultaneously.

Thank you for your time,

You are entirely incorrect about how windows detects a G940. It is detected as 3 seperate devices, and thus I cannot use it in the X series of games as a cohesive unit. I have to choose either the joystick, the throttle or the pedals. Yes, the whole thing plugs into one usb port, but for all intents and purposes it is 3 devices daisy chained together. Yes, I find this very frustrating when thinking that maybe I can use it in a game only to find out they only support one joystick for input.

I certainly hope the PGI intends to support multiple sticks, and I suspect they will since as you pointed out Paul uses a G940.

Really? The information I gathered from people when I was researching my hotas setup in December said it was one device. :/
Can the drivers not combine them into one logical device?

If not, it would suggest that MWO is capable of reading inputs properly, though a Dev comment on this would be nice

Thanks for your insight here, I'm not in a position to obtain a g940 myself for testing, so I appreciate any info you have :)

It is my understanding also, that the Logitech G940 reports (to the OS) as three separate devices. We know that Paul was using one. Along with all of this, a significant number of us have been clamoring for multiple device support for quite some time now.

While we do not yet have the definitive statement from the devs that we crave, I feel *very* confidant that we will have our multiple device support. It's been done in other titles, such as the DCS air combat sims... it would be stunning if they did not include a similar capability.

For me the G-940 shows as Joysticks 2-4 in Windows (this is 7 64-bit). My Logitech 3D extreme pro is listed as Joystick 1. They definetely register as 3 separate joysticks in windows. The driver software allows you to easily set your in-game control scheme from within it, but it is only supported by software specifically designed to support the system (the only game that does this that I have currently is BattleField: Bad Company 2.)

Really?! I had no idea the list of games that don't have horrendously lazy input module coding was as short as one. F**k me, that's shocking... Can't believe Logitech's drivers/control software for it is that bad.. My Thrustmaster gear can masquerade as one device to get around the issue with terribad games, but my pedals can't be roped in as they're a different brand. In all honesty, unless Paul's using Keyboard and joystick or throttle and mouse, which I doubt, that list will be a list of two when MWO comes out.

By the looks of it MWO will very likely support multiple input devices, but we're unsure how customisable the input configuration is. ie. How it can be altered to use other FCS systems/peripherals. The sensible outcome is likely to be a control mapping screen that will just allow you to map an axis from a device to a control, much like any of the earlier MW games. It will also likely be a *long* list of controls, but I think we're all either used to it or relishing it...

Failing that a cfg file containing "TorsoX=Joy1Axis1, TorsoY=Joy1Axis2, LegsX=Joy3Axis1, HeadX=......." or similar would suffice at a push. If we can figure out how to operate the programming software that comes with most FCS devices, we can suss out a cfg file in a tea break. :D

I know I'm a bit late to the party but thank you for your interest in multidevice support, cyberfluke. Personally I'd love to be able to use my joystick for turning and torso twists while relegating my mouse to controlling arm movements. I think I'd have to see multidevice support for that to happen though. Or not, I don't have much background in the tech behind input devices.
