Personally, I don't care for one; and if they had one, I'd never pilot them. Moving at 25-30KPH just makes you a slow massive target. And because of your stature, being so massive, people will always collectively work to take you out. The repair costs would constantly be astronomical.

I think this highlights the dividing line between the current... why not give us that option of the younger generation, and the older souls (of any age).

Happy to see which side of the line the numbers fall on.

Less is more. Structure is awesome. Limitations create character.

I say No!

I think we have enough on our plate to pick from.

It will be a while, if not never, before we see a mech that requires more than one player to operate to be introduced in a game where the pilot:mech requirement is 1:1. They will have to add different coding for this purpose only. And it may or may not be fun at all for the players sitting in the same mech as you if they're not piloting it directly. Canon-wise, Collossal-class mech exists. But there isn't a lot of it around, and with good reason. They're all stated in previous posts.

Options/Varieties are nice, but this one just doesn't seem to be very feasible to consider at this time. Game Development-wise, Game System-wise, and Game Fluff-wise. They'll most likely incline on to spend the time developing more features that would support a lot of the other mech tonnage classes, than to give their efforts into devving for one or two collossal units that may or may not be well received by the players.

This reminds me of a particular quote I came across the internet. "Just because it's unique, doesn't mean it's useful."

Who knows maybe the developer with break up mechwarrior online into diffrent timelines to appeal to all of the battletech fans simply choose your timeline at bootup and negate all the negative critism for mentioning a mech from another timeline lol we are not all Battletech SAVANTS after all !!!! lmao some of us have wives and families and even jobs . And yes i do think the ares would be cool in its own timeline . Remember this is a free to play game and the guys who dont have JOBS lol wont be able to afford the Ares and would fear your presence on the Battlefield so dont feel bad when they spit on you for mentioning something cool . some of the greatest warriors of all time were also the most hated lol.

The only Super-Heavy BattleMech you might live to see is the Omega:
Posted Image
Introduced: 3078.
27 tons of armour, triple gauss rifles (with 26 shots each), twin LB-10X Autocannons (20 shots each), and a iC3 computer.
Downside, its slow (2/3 or 32 km/h) but it isn't slowed by terrain unlike regular 'Mechs.

So until the toasters make that thing, you'd have to make do with Amaris' Folly (complete with broken leg actuators, so you can't move at all).

Correction, in the current year, they do not exist, with the possible exception of Amaris' Folly.
Nor will they exist for another 30 years.

ED-209 really hit the skids and gained some weight after getting thrown out of Robocop 3, didn't he?

Collossals also have another problem- Two teams enter a Pick up game, both have a collossal. One teams collossal decides to afk or makes a mistake and gets killed. Instant ingame flamewar.

Its one thing for you to have an assault or heavy pilot on your team that is a bit of a moron or is busy getting hot pockets when the team needs him. But a colossal pilot? Thats going to incense people alot more.

You don't have to worry: A lot of players would bail on the game with the introduction of these things anyway, so there'd be noone left to go AFK.
