To have textures appear appropriately, you can only do a polygon so large. Especially when you're trying to create something bumpy and to have it look good under lighting.

Example: You could make a building out of a 6 polygons (4 walls, top and bottom). But when you shine light on it, it looks awful. Times that by 8, creating the same building out of 48 polygons but having the exact same shape, and shadows look much better, lighting looks better, and even though it's the exact same shape there's a lot more visual quality to it. And the bigger something is, the more noticeable this is, requiring more and more polygons to do exactly the same cube.

Otherwise the lighting and shadows on it just look atrocious. But truth be told.. they kind of look atrocious on those pillars anyway.

PGI? Can you Tell the Community whats with the Flea it´s mech 16 of your mechs and you never released sry but Locust is cool but not a Flea!

Do you want to say to us that the Flea never comes PGI cause you need the money from the Phönix mechs?

Or do we become an answer when the Flea commes allright in the next months?

I think I read from the Ask the Devs section that the reason for putting the Flea on hold was due to a CryEngine 3 limitation, something about hitting errors when a Mech, i.e. Flea, moves faster than 150kph.

So, yeah, don't hold your breath for this Mech while they work to resolve it and MASC (doubles your kph) as well.

Pretty certain that the limitation was due to network performance. Which isnt something that can be resolved. Only improved. Pretty sure theyve made it better now too. Since the commando can now run upto 171kph.

My guessing is that they will release the Flea after the phoenic variants are released.

Also, I don't see how MASC doubles your kph, The only mech it seems to be used on is the flea and it takes it from 97 to 119 kph.

MASC allows a 'mech to run at double its walking speed, not double its running speed.

Running speed is normally 1.5 times walking speed, so simple math example: A walking speed of 40kph means a running speed of 60kph. MASC increases that running speed to (40*2), or 80kph (and risks locking the legs up for the remainder of the match).

But as BT (TT) and MWO calculates running speed differently, it would be more precise for MWO to increase the max speed (w/o MASC) by 33.3%.
In case of Flea (stock version):
top speed with 120 engine (stock): 97.2 km/h
top speed w/ MASC: 97.2 *(1+0.333) = 129.6 (= same top speed w/ MASC in TT).

Masc is supposed to be double walking speed, which is 66% of running speed. Assuming that a 20ton Flea cannot have more engine then a Locus. This is what the chart would look like:
