I recently read that MechWarrior Online, as far as time and days go, takes place in real time, except taking place in the year 3049. For example, playing today (March 11, 2012) would be March 11 3049 in-game. After thinking nothing of it something finally hit me like a brick to the head...the Clan Invasion started in 3049, in August to be precise.

Can we expect to be fighting the Clans as soon as this August? <_< Discuss!

The Clans hit the Periphery in August, yes. But it took them a while to get to the IS proper through Kurita.

Off the top of my head, they only hit The Rock in December 3049, which was IS proper's first encounter with the Clans. The actual invasion didn't hit the border areas until around February or so.

Yeah, going back to look at some of my old data (as well as looking up some stuff at IS Atlas), some of the first encounters on the FedCom borders began in March or so. So, odds are that we're going to get our first proper contact with the Clans in March 2013.

man we are some hardcore battle tech nerds to be bringing this up now, that being said, itll likely be longer till we see clan tech playable for the IS side, since we need to salvage it, then we need to reverse engineer it, then design the chasis like bushwacker and uzial to use it (think 3055 for a few of these).

they still have to come up with a system to balance IS teams tech vs clans bidding down to make it a fair and honorable fight (thats a clan thing not an IS thing, just ask steiner, since all they field are atlas to the weight limit of drop, then toss in whatever fits)

Maybe we'll get to see some kind of Vs AI mechanic introduced with the Clans, grabbing up a couple of friends to try to take down a small handful of powerful enemy mechs controlled by AI.

From what I understand, the avaibility of clan tech to players will not be for a year.

Beta isn't even released, and I will point out not a single clan mech, much less a 'new' mech from the 3050 book have been released. We didn't even know that we would be playing with 'lost tech' till 5 days ago.... before that he had to assume we had standard tech.

Pretty much it will be like the real thing... everyone thought it was pirates and raiders at first. We will just see rumors of a strange conflict in the outer rim starting in August.

Keep your shirt on. <_<

I hardly doubt this will ever happen. It would jeopardize the precious (ingame) balance.

Lethal Heritage. Blood of Kerensky: Volume one by Micheal A. Stackpole

Sector 313 Alpha, Sisyphus's Lament
The Rock System, Oberon Confederation
13 August 3049

This was periphery action. As much of a die hard Clanner I am, I still believe it would be in the game's benefit to hold off until hitting the major houses proper. This allows time to build IS content, balance it against each other, gather data and set up events for the clan invasion.

In terms of salvage... if you want to play by canon, there won't be much for about 6 months minimum. But I can see items being extremely expensive if not have some kind of token system where you have fight against clanners and earn to use to buy clan salvage. But this purely speculation on my part.

Phelan! This is, IMHO, one of the best and mot underrepresented stories in BT. The first signs of Clan defection, plus IS allegiance with Kell and Wolves in Exile. I want to go re-read Blood of Kerensky nao!

In the absence of official news I close this post and move it on the forum "Clans".This post could give rise to misunderstandings between the new members of the forum.
