um ok heres what i see. Lamont complains about the raid to the combine over fox teeth's command

Oh I'm here. Took a bit to get me to stick my head out of the library. I'm just considering which angle to take on this one--Take a look at our previous coverage of the Fox's Teeth. It looks like the First Ceti Hussars are resenting their posting as a garrison force on Glenmora, which is totally understandable, given that all of the Ceti Hussars are designated raiding units. It must look like the First Hussars got passed over in favor of their more popular (and famous) "younger brothers."

Do they have any connection to 4th Tau Ceti Rangers?
There are three of them and I haven't seen any 1st, or 3rd Tau Ceti Rangers.

Why is a FedSuns officer being named with a Lyran rank?
(According to Sarna's Rank Equivalence Table, Hauptmann-General (Lyran equivalent of a FedSuns Major-General) is two ranks below Lamont's canon rank of Marshal (FedSuns equivalent of a Lyran General).)

Also, if the Fox's Teeth are confirmed to exist in-universe...

Yeah its the Rank. They use Federated Suns Ranks, not Lyran Ranks

The rank is not the error, as it is an AFFC rank - and those are active since 3042.

Yet both are units affiliates with the Davion/FedSuns side of the AFFC, so it seems odd to use the Lyran rank... unless the report is coming from an agency in the Lyran side of the Commonwealth (the Commonwealth Press, perhaps?) and is using the (more familiar) Lyran rank to improve audience understanding.

Still, the rank used in the ISN post is two grades too low - the 1st Ceti Hussars is a front-line RCT specializing in short, fast raiding operations, and would/should usually be led by a Marshal or higher-ranking officer... and both the previous CO and the current CO (Patrick Weldon (3025) and Vance Lamont (3050), respectively) are noted as being Marshals.

Actually, I think the rank IS the problem. According to http://www.sarna.net...st_Ceti_Hussars, the commanding officer in 3050 is Marshal Vance Lamont. Of course, Sarna has been wrong before, and I don't have any sourcebooks to back myself up. Did Lamont get promoted?

The AFFC ranks are the same in both parts of the FedCom.

Its just one rank, but yeah: Its too low.
