I've always liked seeing and working on photo realistic photos incorporating Mechs in the picture.
I thought I would start a topic on this and see how many people had pics to post.
I wanted to start this one off with a photo I combined from a model kit and a real photo.
I carefully matched up the lighting on the model to match the lighting in the picture so it would look more natural.
I hope you enjoy it.

I like it, except you should've stolen a repaint skin from the thread and applied it.

Without the paint it always looks a bit like a toy 'shopped in.

It is based on an old paint scheme, the Steiner reflective camo.

Here is the photo of the original pic.

Needs more cowbell (and green and yellow paint).

:D

It would add to the 'realism' because then you can put dents, scratches, bullet holes, etc.. in the model to hide the plastic-ness of the model...

Plus if you link it to some destruction in the picture (say the upper right half of the building has some bullet holes that lead into the mech) it merges the works together a bit tighter.

/I am anti-artistic but I know what to look for....I know it's weird.

Above constructive advice aside, I like it a lot. I hope this thread catches on. It'd be amazing to see what many of the talented members of the community come up with.

Well not to sound defensive but its supposed to be a local Mech on patrol in its hometown, so bullet holes in the building and all would defeat the feel of the scene. He is waving to a local guy walking down the street like a cop would to a pedestrian.
I'm sure some photoshop guru's could add some effects and lighting to enhance the look, but I figured if I took a photo in the same light with the same angles, it would visually match up ok.
I guess its difficult to get a 6 inch model to not look like a 6 inch model lol.

Cool stuff nonetheless, keep posting..
If I could get Mechnut to post here, he's been doing downscaled mech models since ages....

Awesome job Max! I looked at the picture a few times already and your integration work makes very realistic. And I dig realistic... Still dreaming of a MW movie (since MW4). Let me know if at some point in your future project/process, you'd like to have some Ironhawk involvement in the mix.
