Star Captain is the highest rank that can be won in the initial Trial of Position, everything after that is supposed to be more down to tactical, strategic and logistical talent than direct combat skill.
Not that that changes the way they fight for it...

When I was RPing Thom back in the day during our TT game he took out a star of Wolves in one battle. I've since fluffed it out that the wolfs think of him as a boogy man.

GM had a huge woody for UAC20s and the star had two HunchbackIIC's, I ranged them. And got freak head shots up the yin-yang on the rest.

EDIT: the Banchee that I was using was beat up pretty bad, bout as bad as 'Ole One-Eye' when the fight stopped.
