First trailer!

This will now be a feature length film. (90 minutes)

______
OLD
______

I've decided to create a short 2-3 minute CGI fan film.

I will be deviating from my normal style and will be using CelShading to create a new and interesting look.

At the moment I have about 70 different mechs (modeled, rigged, and textured) to use in this animation, the only issue is the story. I'd originally planned to just have a handful of mechs wailing on each other with lasers, machine guns, autocannons, and missiles mindlessly. However, that gets boring after a while.

I'd like to see what kinds of stories the fan base would like to see, and then I will make it.

So, simply post what kind of story you would like to see (It doesn't have to be canon or anything) and which 'mechs you would like included. If you get mech specific in the story I only ask that you include at least a Bushwacker and Catapult as I just made them for this occasion. Dialogue may not be possible (due to lack of willing voice talents), so try not to use it in the story. I will probably be picking and choosing stories that I like and merging them together for the final product.

Here is a short test with the just the 'mechs.

I don't know if you were inspired by me or not (I've been advertising for my cel shaded movie for a while now), but either way I think it's a good idea. I said before that some of your previous work didn't have the kind of polish I would have liked to see. Especially now, because I think your animation itself already looks quite a bit more interesting and varied than what I created for my film. This really deserves a good look and some good effects and I think cel shading is a good way to go.

I know that you have been almost the only one doing extended Battletech animations (at least from what I have found on the web) and you deserve kudos for that alone! I'm really looking forward to your project!

I knew you were doing a fan film, I simply didn't realize it was celshaded. I was thinking you had simply created cartoony textures and gave everything extra luminosity. It does look good so far.

My inspiration for celshading actually came from Borderlands, so I'm going to try and match that style for the final product.

Here are a few of the 'mechs I have, ready to be animated. Some are rather dated though and will need improvement before they can be used. If anyone wants to see a mech not here, go ahead and ask and I'll do my best to make it in a timely manner.Posted Image

Since you have so many models, why not recreate some of the missions from Mechwarrior 2?

Everyone would like to see that I think.

If not, how about a movie about when some IS units in the periphery first encounter the clans?

I'd like to see a Gargoyle if you could make that.

Looks really good. I have always liked the art for the Mad Dog, the Linebacker, and the Rifleman. Seeing them go at it in an IS vs Clan battle would be neat. Also, as an idea, if you want some dialog, but do not want to do voice overs, maybe subtitles would work.

So here's an idea. I do a ton of these little animations and I have a ton of assets and everyone seems to love Mechwarrior 2 and Clan vs IS battles...

So what if I turned Mechwarrior 2 into a feature length film?

I know a dozen 3D artists that would like to help me out so I wouldn't be alone.

I've gathered the audio from the various cutscenes and other sources. I've got a few decent voice actors that I know would be willing to help as well. I've got all of the MW3 sfx and a lot from MW2 so those will come in handy.

For 'mechs, I've got pretty much every 'mech I will need already made so that's covered.

It looks like now I just need to decide on which missions I will be including since I simply shouldn't do all 25 or so that were in the game.

As for story it will follow that in the game starting with a redone intro, going into some of the mechwarrior 3's intro audio to explain the universe, then onto introducing the first clan, a mission, introducing the second clan, another mission, a larger scale battle, the kell hound battles, the finale, and both clan endings, redone.

What do you guys think of that?

Progress is still exceeding personal expectations.

I now need to decide which missions from the game to include.

This is what I have in mind at the moment (subject to change if anyone wants to see something else).

Some of these may be seen from the opposing perspective.

Silent Thunder (JF) HPG destruction.

Umber Wall (JF) Hovertrain escort.

Bronze Anvil (JF) Urban Sneak Attack

Flame Tongue (CW) Destroy Hardened HQ

Blade Splint (CW) Destroy City Power Converter

Temper Edge (CW) Escort Tarantula

Burning Chrome (CW) Destroy Solar Arrays

Scorching Sand (CW) Capture Command Vehicle

Cold Cresent (CW) Destroy Terraformer Core

Velvet Hammer (CW) Defend Hoverlimo

Golden Spade (CW) Destroy shield generator and palace complex.

Thanks.

And yeah, we do need some voice talents. We've got a few people working on it at the moment, but I have yet to hear if they can pull it off.

Anyone who wants a shot as a voice talent should post a sample here or in a private message to me.

I will be modeling the pilot so if you are accepted as a voice talent, tell me how you want your pilot to look and what decal should be on his/her 'mech.

So far I have a total of 4 artists working on this project and plenty of willing voice talents.

Any voice talents must send me a sample before I can use them though.

Still looking for anyone else who may be willing to help.
