As I understand it (and have been telling my friends) this game is intended to be a World of Tanks type game on steroids!!! Unlike WoT, MWO actually takes planning and tactics beyond just the biggest tank or the best stuff. As I understand it, MWO takes a combined startegy with all Lance Commanders. So, Scout/Medium Mech's are intended to do scoutng. The Heavy/Assault Mechs will lay maximum damage.

I personally will modify (my top secret) a Jenner to my personal taste. I have a friend that will use a modified Hunchback for a tactical advantage against the enemy.

Hell, If you pay attention, I gave you the perfect Scout Mech.

So it like Counter-Strike Source with the WOW modification and three teams. Wouldn't you call it an RTS?

My take on it is the matchmaking and combat like COD coupled with a persistent online world like Tribal War ......

They have already mentioned that you can view results on a website and see changes ... etc

Just call it what it is: an online combat sim.

How cool would that be... a true MechWarrior MMORPG! The player would start right after MechWarrior training, entering the final test on a Commando or so, fulfilling missions (in and out of the Mech), making C-Bills, advancing his skills much like in The Secret World, buying or scavenging new weapons / equipment / Mech (singular)... :(

MWO as it is and will be is awesome as well, I'll get as many elite founder's packs as I may buy next tuesday - but a MechWarrior MMO as an additional source of fun... *sigh* not gonna happen anytime soon though :(

WWII Online is the classic example of this type of "persistent" world or game play.

hell yea..WWII online looks...urghs...and manytimes plays...urghs... and is buggy like hell and and and...
but it´s fun for a while... it had a deep emersion imho, it catched me, until i found out how unbalanced and all it is... :(
if MWO someday gets somewhere into this direction, with swapping the cities and towns for planets, it would become a killer...
leaving all the bad parts of WWII online out, that is :(

Yeah. It might be cool having a MechWarrior based MMO like Gridian describe. Or it could be a flop. Though we'll just wait and see. Never know who's listening in on these threads...

I can only hope it's a MMORPG so that down the road some 7 ft clan elemental taskmistriss can teach me the meaning of love (with pain). Now that's role playing.

Just because you say it's not MMORPG doesn't mean I won't act like it
