Clan combat. If a pilot is engaged with another mech, you do not intervene. Each fight should be 1 on 1 so each pilot may test their mettle properly without interuption. Also, do not speak with contractions and do not speak with Inner Sphere insults as they are the language of the freebirth.

Anyways, just to sum up. If I want to be a roleplayer in the game, mainly as a clanner, how do I go about this exactly? Also, van Bramerhaven, I need more information before joining the Wolf Spiders. I want to keep my options open. Oh, since the game has not come out yet, I have the second edition roleplaying books but have never had a chance to use them. If anyone wants to run me in a game of that so I can get a good feel of the game again, let me know. I have not really played any Battletech since MW2.

I just hope all you would be clanners become familiar with and follow the honor code of the clans and are not just IS style pilots in high tech machines! The clans are DIFFERENT! That is what makes them fun to play and to fight.

The Honor Code you cite will only work between Clansmen (if they both buy into the idiom) and rarely between an IS-oriented Pilot and a Clan-Oriented pilot. You already know the IS-style pilots are chomping at the bit for the Clan tech and do not care who thinks what about their playing style.

If you want to get some BattleTech experience, you can try megamek.info, it's a Java based simulator that replicates the table top rules very accurately (or so I'm led to believe, haven't used it myself). As for straight roleplaying... best I can do is direct you to the Clan subforum of these boards and poke around there. As far as I'm concerned, the best way to roleplay is to find a group of people you enjoy playing with and roll with them.

Thus far, the only official information on Clans is the knowing wink in the FAQ (correct me with a link if I'm wrong). It is doubtful that Clans will be a player option at launch (and any timeline is strictly speculation at this point), so mechanics wise RPing a Clansman will most likely be difficult. If you haven't already, check out this thread for links to Dev blogs and interviews. It's a good jumping off point for official information on what's coming.

I feel it is also worth pointing out that this is not an MMORPG but an MMO Action/Sim. They've stated that there isn't going to be any PvE content. I do not say this to discourage RP (I'm a member of an RP oriented group myself), but there will most likely not be as large an RP base as MMORPGs.

To start with, use the term "Clansman" vice "clanner". The former is used among the Clans and the latter amongst the unwashed...
