the bigguns have dozens of people manning defense turrets and loaders for the main cannons, titans wipe out armies with single shots, worlds tremble when they run (literally the large ones cause local earth quakes)
and who doesnt love 40k infantry hehe, imperial guard = unarmored mass unit infantry fodder
space marines = super version of clan battle armors, space marines def tougher though clanners are just enhanced humans, space marines are 800 pound immortal warriors (unless you manage to do enough dmg)
baneblade/land raider are easily a match for a company of mechs hehe
then theres the evil guys, the ork hordes, the necrons, the tyranids, the chaos warp mutants, o my.
not that i wont enjoy the hell out of mwo, but im also looking forward to 40k dark millenium if they find funding and get it out, who knows they might end up following pgis f2p model.

and yeah, Space Marines are a lot like Clan Elementals. But I am willing to bet that an Elemental would be more of a threat. A single star of Elementals (five guys in battlesuits) can take out a heavy mech by jumping on it and ripping it to shreds with their claws and small lasers. I know a single Adeptus Astartes can hold off hordes of Orks, but I would like to see them jumping 3 stories into the air and tearing an 80 ton warmachine to pieces with their hands.
Not hating on the Space Marines, just to be clear. I love 40K

assault marine jump pack + thunder hammer = battlemech splat! and the hammer is manuverable enough to give the clanners trouble hehe, while the armor soaks up the laser and machine gun fire (thats the one nice thing about clan battle suits, they are armed to the teeth). but in the end, the astartest bones are tougher then ferro fiberous, his flesh regenerates rapidly, his organs are redundant, he has superman level strength, he is armored in adamantium, and his bolter can pierce almost anything, and if it cant his power edged meelee weapons can! *wargasm* ok im better now.

Do I sense a crossover game in the near future?
Battletech vs. 40,000 - Unending War.

Just look at an assault marine with a power fist or lightning claw .
Anyways, im a big fan of 40k- I collect Imperial Guard, Blood Angels, and soon Tyranids and regular space marines. I also dabble in fantasy (Vampire Counts, Skaven, and soon Forest Goblins)
But its the Imperial Guard I love the most- these guys are regular, normal guys armed with nothing but a lasgun and some light armour. They aren't superhuman or well armoured, yet they still go out there every day and fight inhuman monsters in defence of humanity. That takes real courage.
Also, they have tanks. Lots of tanks. Tanks are awesome.
Especially the Leman Russ- the most mass produced tank. Ever. (Not the most mass produced armoured fighting vehicle though, that distinction goes to the chimera.)
Its not as well armoured as a Space Marine Predator- but by god it is well armed. A battle cannon, 2 Heavy Bolters and a lascannon as standard, with the option of adding a Heavy Stubber and a hunter-killer missile. Then theres the variants..... it can outshoot a space marine land raider even.
Its also an amazing aesthetic piece- it has the advanced technology of the 41st millenium, but in true imperial style, it is designed more like a World War 1 Vehicle than something modern- Look at that high profile, the sponsons, the shape of its armour, the fact it has a pair of crewmembers just to man the sponson guns. It is the vehicle that best encapsulates the spirit of the Imperium. (And its named after a Primarch!)

Oh, and I like the fact, that with knowledge of lore (through hours spent on Lexicanum), I can laugh at Starcraft hard-cores.

warcraft and starcraft are just terrible ripoffs of warhammer, it all started when blizzard was denied access to the IP to make games based on it and made legally shifty copies instead!

Yeah, but as long as they're good games and GW doesn't care, I'm fine with it, but when it comes to fanboys telling me that SC 2 is the best strategy game ever and the Warhammer ripped off Starcraft (pretty much like the Tribes ripped off Halo nonsense), all of my good experience with the game itself comes to an end and I'm ready to kill someone (literaly).

One thing I love about the 40k setting- I know so much about the 40k setting that I can probably tell you more about the 40k universe than any of the 40k wiki sites could, yet im still learning more every day! It just has so much depth to it, so much history and detail and story. I actually doubt that any other sci-fi/fantasy setting has anywhere near as much written about it as 40k does.
Then you have the added bonus that the entire thing is built for the purpose of giving players own painstakingly painted and collected armies a setting to fight and exist in, and leaves enough room (an entire galaxy) for such things to exist in- Players can actually make their own planets, regiments, chapters, etc that fit in the 40k Universe.
edit: An interesting but little known fact about Warhammer: 40k is its origin- Originally there was only warhammer fantasy, but then Citadel decided to start making some sci-fi stuff- at first it was intended to just make and release upgrade kits, which would turn fantasy orcs/elves/etc into 40k orks/eldar/etc by adding weapon arms/bits and pieces to them that fit a sci-fi setting, but the modellers decided to just make whole new models, and 40k was born, in the form of Rogue Trader. Its hard to imagine, but back in those days, a few of the games workshop artists sat down and scribbled a double headed eagle, a winged skull, etc, and in the original rogue trader book a text box was written in as an afterthought saying "in x time, imperial forces rebelled in an event called the Horus Heresy". Nowadays the doubled headed eagle is a worldwide recognisable brand, 40k is the most popular tabletop wargame ever made, and there is an entire bestselling series of books about the Horus Heresy!

I'm not a 40K player but I know how you feel,I hate it when a fanboi says a older property "ripped off" a newer property.

The setting also lost much of its magic when I started to read 'serious' sci-fi\fantasy: when you read 'Dune' or Moorcock and realize how much has been 'borrowed' by GW you simply stop to enjoy WH40k\WH Fantasy fluff.
As a tabletop game,it's fun , but nothing exceptional.

Not rich enough to buy metal ones and a whole company of IGs. I don't know why people like the SMs so much, I think that they are too... serious (FO DA EMPERAH!!!) and over powered but thats cool although not something I can relate to. IGs are just the every day me and yous who although die in their millions but they feel as we do and they think as we would, so yea enough of my ramblings.
TL;DR: I LIKE BOTH BT AND GW!!!
