Thats absolutely true in my case. It has alot to do however with these mechs being the first ones, the ones we started with and the ones we are emotionally attached to.
The Warhammer is a bloody icon for battletech for me.

It is not glass, it's transparent armor. You could equip a whole Mech with that stuff and not lose any durability. Learn some lore before you rant.

The unseen problem is a bother, there been talk of the original images for unseen being flushed out of canon for new (old) images. Frankly, i'd rather see MWO do some own version of the BattleMaster and others for sake of having them. They were front line 'Mechs of Battletech, some best designs. Substitute 'Mechs they used from the Star League era were crap in comparison to them, specially some of the variants.

Some did, it's nto a standard feature, and it costs tonnage.
The Battlemaster WAS an icon, but that was the original (unseen) version. It was simply better artwork than the Phoenix versions.
I've always found it rather bland however. Just not a very interesting mech. It does it's job, it's powerful certainly, but not outstandingly so amongst other Assaults. It's sort of a Generic Assault mech to me.

Umm, I'm gonna call bullshit here. The Battlemaster has been an icon for years and I've got the T-shirt to prove it.

Agreed. There is a set of three rulebooks that make up the current ruleset: Total Warfare, Tactical Operations, and Strategic Operations. All three of these are recently released from Catalyst, and very much so still being distributed. Of these three, two have the reseen Battlemaster on the cover.
Furthermore, the icon that denotes moderator/admin on the BattleTech forums is the reseen Battlemaster. As of right now, it would be fair to say that the reseen Battlemaster is the icon 'Mech of Battletech, a title previously held by the unseen Warhammer, the Atlas, the Timber Wolf, and then the Atlas again. The recent 25th anv. boxed set has a Hammerhands on the cover, which is a dead ringer for the unseen Warhammer, so that may end up being the next BT iconic 'Mech, but time will tell.
tl;dr the battlemaster is the current iconic 'Mech of BT.

Cassie Suthorn
Cassie convinced the ISF Assistant Director to help her disable the large machine. As Ninya distracted what turned out to be a BattleMaster with machine gun fire, Cassie, after cutting down her dress, jumped onto shoulders of the 'Mech from a fifth floor roof. She useed her extensive study of BattleMechs to release a hidden rescue lever and open the cockpit. Then sliced the MechWarrior with her vibro-blade and took over the BattleMech. She had limited knowledge of how to actually pilot the 'Mech but was able to ambush two of Blakist 'Machines, until she was forced to jump from the 'Mech into an icy pond. She is rescued by Eleanor Shimazu, who takes out the King Crab that disabled her captured 'Mech

First use in my fifth battletech game - i used a double cockpit - first hit - critical hit gyro - my mech kissed the ground and the crew blacked out. Next round crew was dead.
Second usage - a heavy lance lead by a battlemaster holding some snakes at bay - a No-Dachi uses his TSM to close the gap and with a swift and clean sword strike the Battlemaster was dead.
Third usage this time intro level but conventional troops - harasser tank fired a salvo of SRMs in the side of the BM...you can guess what happen? right - ammunition explosion.
Fourth usage vs clans - lbx round damaged the gyro and the pilot blacked out
never used it again - will not use it in MWO even if it is the last battlemech available

But now it is free to be seen again and has other variants that are better than the basic one seen in the 3025 tech book. The BLR-4S and BLR-6X models are nice for instance.
